I been playing INS for a little bit and I found better ways of gameplay. First: for the shotgun, try not to use the AIM and get use to 'no scoping" this will help a lot because when in close situations you WILL need to shoot at instant. Using the aim slows you down and shotty rounds are too spread apart to actually hit a far away enemy. The chances of you hitting someone from far distance is unlikely so why use the aim at all...?

2. Make use of your smokes, I noticed in maps like ALMADEN people tend to not use the smokes in the right places. If you are a marine use your smokes on open streets that are highly sniped. Running across will not prevent you from getting your head blown off. SMOKING WILL

3. Follow the objectives and the commander. SURE killing is important but, capturing the key points is more important. Killing one guy isn't worth losing a flag just because you wandered to a different place. That guy you killed is just going to respawn over and over again so, to make the map quick just go to the objective and secure.

4. Never EVER stay back in sniper class. OK OK many of you will disagree but, snipers are most useful helping to take out the enemy in the cap sites. In almost every map I see snipers staying in spawn next to a road or a building. This is useless to the team and retarded. The team can benifet and YOU can get more kills by following in the squad and helping take out enemies in other sniping spots. HOW COOL IS THAT? lol

5. Do not use the radio chat if you are in enemy territory. I cannot believe how dumb some people can be when they play. An enemy will not know that you are there if you stay in a secure area in there zone. But an enemy will know you are there if they hear IM ATTACKING or I NEED BACKUP. Unless you have your men behind you then please, for the sake of killing people, don't be dumb. Imagine if you are in war, and you are in hostile area, would you shout out and give away your position? NO, unless you are suicidal....:(

6. Choose class wisely, use the gun you are best with and not whats "cool." I know so many amazing riflemen who use sniper class because they think the gun is cool. If you suck at it don't use it. period.

7. In game the x button helps you change your type of fire (burst, spray, or single shot) in some guns. Use it right and make use of it. In a sniping spot the best shot is single fire because it reduces recoil and you will be more likely to kill them. In tight spots use auto or burst (depending on what gun you have).

8. Commanders: do your job, don't send in reinforcements if you don't need it. Also make sure you make the right decisions (tatics).

9. For the RPG class or Grenadier: Ok here is the deal, the best way to kill an enemy in this class is not using your pistol or gun, use the rpg/nade. The MARINES version of this class has a terrible gun so, use your nade in areas where a lot of people are. RPGs are best for taking out a large squad or a hard to spot sniper.

10. Support class: This class is easy yet hard. Why? Because you have a highly automatic gun but, no nades or smokes. If you need a smoke ask for a smoke in the squad (which means don't ever leave without your squad). Also deploy in smart areas. This means don't block an entrance or don't deploy in open areas....Make sure you conserve your ammmo (I mean it) supports have the most ammo but you waste a lot. Almost every person I see thats a support end up dying because of no ammo.

11. Don't ever try to rush by yourself, be a group. This will help take out more enemies and cap the points.

my last advice: have fun

***I will add more when I think of them

Well the guide is mostly right, I don't agree with some of your points.

Point #4. The frontlines is not always the best place for a sniper. They have that scope for a reason, to attack from range. If you send them to the frontlines, they have a much higher chance of being KIA. It is the job of the sniper to be behind his squad and cover them from distance, not from the same place they are in.

Point # 6. If someone wants to play a class they suck at, that's fine, they can play as anything they want as long as they try their best at it. You can't tell someone they must change classes because they aren't skilled in it.

Point # 9. The m203 the Marines get isn't horrible, it just takes time to master. It may not have the range of the RPG, but it has arc, which allows you to hit people behind cover that an RPG cannot. Both explosives have their pros and cons, but determining the best really depends on the player. With USMC, you get a M16 in addition to your m203, but just a Pistol with your RPG as an Insurgent.

Point # 10. Support is meant to shoot a lot, not conserve ammo. SAW means Squad Automatic Weapon. This means that it is the duty of the SAW gunner to lay down enough fire to cover the advance of their squad. As a SAW, I have never run out of ammo, even when covering multiple squads for extended periods of time. Ammo isn't an issue with Support.

for Point 4: what i mean is not frontlines i mean within the squad. So suppose I was a sniper and my squad is moving to delta from alpha. I notice that one of my squad members get killed in Delta by a rifleman in a faraway distance. I should go to delta and try to take out the rifleman instead of staying in alpha and letting my team die

for point 6: I'm not trying to tell what to do I'm telling them its easier to play. Suppose I was a support class and I'm amazing at sniper. If you want to get more kills (thats why i give these tips) then do something that comes natural for you. Same thing with CSS I never use the ump because I just can't kill. It gets boring and dull so I use the awp which comes natural to me. But, if its more enjoyable choosing a different class by all means do it, but the squad will benefit more from a amazing sniper or whatever than a decent or bad sniper or whatever

for point 9: I don't mean the grenade launcher is bad I mean the rifle itself is bad. In INS the grendier class has the weakest rifle out of all the guns. Once you run out of grenades you are stuck with that rifle or the pistol. I use the pistol because I know that when I shoot at them they die.

for point 10: I agree with you that support is for covering fire but, I seen countless times a support class blocking the way and spraying at nothing. 1. it gives away position 2. It doesn;t help shooting at nothing. What I mean by conserving ammo is shoot at where the bullet will at least damage someone. I as a rifleman would prefer a support to fire at where it is hostile or sniper zone rather than spray at an open door where nobody is there

Alot of useful information, but the most important tactic in my opinion is experience. Load up the game and just play! Pay attention to the maps, situations, guns and use your team.

yuppp but how sometimes getting experienced is bad if you practice bad tatics

I do agree with all of the points given, but I still have another thing or two to add ;]

1. Nading. I can't stand how many people kill their own squad due to a poorly thrown grenade. I suggest throwing them only into that spot where there's a camper, but please, cook the grenade before throwing. Often times the player which is skilled sees it coming and runs away, if you cook it, before he/she can escape, the grenade explodes and you get the kill and no more spawn camping :D

2. Listening skills. A great way to improve your gameplay is by following a good leader in your squad. Pick up his tactics and use them depending on the situation. I've done remarkably better and have been topping scorecharts (not off kills, but capping objectives aswell).

3. Killing isn't everything. Yes, you should kill when you see the enemy, but don't just sit and camp stupidly and not follow the objectives. Even if you did get 20 kills and 0 deaths, hooray for you, but your team lost 10 times in a row :[. So it's better to just stick with your squad, kill enemies as they come, and you'll find yourself with a lot of shiny numbers next to your name :D

for point 9: I don't mean the grenade launcher is bad I mean the rifle itself is bad. In INS the grendier class has the weakest rifle out of all the guns. Once you run out of grenades you are stuck with that rifle or the pistol. I use the pistol because I know that when I shoot at them they die.

But its either have a rifle and pistol or just pistol. I would always go with a rifle w/m203 and pistol then just pistol.

yuppp but how sometimes getting experienced is bad if you practice bad tatics

Just my opinion, but when anyone is learning a game regardless of guides you always use bad tactics until you gain experience ingame to understand when to rush or hold back.

My 1 suggestion. On push maps there is only 1 thing the US can do to win PUSH. Almaaden is the perfect example. If you get good players on the US, you can win that map. BUT only if you rush a as fast as possible, then have diversionary squad in mosque, then send in your cap guys through the upstairs on the right of B.

Once you cap A and B, the rest of the map comes easy. Anyone who has been on an active deployment can recall the words every CO has told them. "KEEP MOVING!!!"

When the enemy is in a fixed location, and he has hostiles moving in from multiple directions, it become very hard for him to keep that location. However if one of the people stops, I would start shooting the ones who are still advancing. Then you only have 1 direction to worry about.

heres another 2,

1. Pay attention to which way you team mate was killed from, this gives you the chance to get he jump on the guy that just killed him

2.if you keep getting hit by ricochets, or through the cover you are hiding behind, DO NOT MOVE OUT OF COVER TO GET AWAY. this just make you die, just sit tight, lob a nade or 2, and get ready for the enemy to come to where you are

You make alot of really good points.
And i agree with you sorta on sniper, my view of sniper is this:
Personally I think "sniper" should be called scout, that goes for all games.

Think about it, you've got a scope that allows you to see half way across the map, and insanely accurate and powerful gun. You should move up with your team in this manner.
Go with them staying near the back/in the rear. When the squad reaches an open area, you become point man, scoping or scouting out the area for incoming enemy's and hidden-packed in snipers. Once you've cleared it, you stay back for a bit to cover them and then re-group.

Also:
Grenades Tips
Long distance: left click
Medium: right click, hold for a second or two
Short: right click, hold while running at target until you reach said target, preferably while yelling a cool line from your favorite action movie
Ex. "Hasta-la-vista.....baby"

UnderFire
Running along and get shot/being shot at?
Press Z and wait.
That guy has no indicator as to wether he really killed you or not, chances are, seeing you drop like that will fool him.

Wow this is good guys, lets keep the tips running ^^ soon alll of our members in this division will kick butt!

Another tip that is useful in my opinion. Instead of moving your body from behind a corner use the lean button which I think is q and e. This makes your body small and harder to hit for the enemy. Also, if you hold down shift and wasd it will make you run faster.

re: the no camping...
Sometimes this game seems so real I am actually scared to go further than any visible teammates. I dont think I can remember a game that made me hesitant to run out shooting!

-_- I find INS to be more of mindless shooting/fun. It's only a game.
I'd also like to add a tip:
-The suicide RPG-
Similar to "trolling" in CS:S, except in INS, you get more bang!
2 different ways of the ultimate martyr
1: Hide in a corner in a well traveled spot until a couple of gyrenes come about, then point the RPG at your feet and click away!
2: Take advantage of the fact that you don't have a stamina bar - running at a somewhat distracted cluster of enemy is relatively simple, just make sure you move around like a drunken frat boy, then once you're close (point blank) point the RPG in the general direction of the enemy and click. It is essential to chant "Allahu Ackbar!" into the mic for laughs (just don't overdo it.)

I been playing INS for a little bit and I found better ways of gameplay. Using the aim slows you down and shotty rounds are too spread apart to actually hit a far away enemy. The chances of you hitting someone from far distance is unlikely so why use the aim at all...?

Actually I use the aim on the shotgun alot, it does have a high chance of hitting people at a longer range because it is not using buckshot, it is using a slug I belive. Sure at short range dont use the sight but that is true for many guns, although not in all situations.

2. Make use of your smokes, I noticed in maps like ALMADEN people tend to not use the smokes in the right places. If you are a marine use your smokes on open streets that are highly sniped. Running across will not prevent you from getting your head blown off. SMOKING WILL

True partly. A smart support gunner will fire quick bursts into smoke to suppress enemies and hopefully kill them, not just support gunners should do this. A tactic taught to soldiers is to fire into the smoke, not hold your fire until the smoke dissapates.

3. Follow the objectives and the commander. SURE killing is important but, capturing the key points is more important. Killing one guy isn't worth losing a flag just because you wandered to a different place. That guy you killed is just going to respawn over and over again so, to make the map quick just go to the objective and secure.

Yep.

HOW COOL IS THAT? lol

Really? Never EVER? Snipers are designed to engage at long ranges, this is what they have always done, a single well holed up sniper at long range has suppressed many a marine squad for a good time while other troops can get into position to take the enemy down. A single holed up sniper can control entire areas of a battle field. I doubt real life military tactics in a game designed to be like real life is "retarded". Counter sniping is useful if you are up to the risk, but you will most likely get yourself killed as you have to scope in, while the enemy sniper has that one second to kill you, try to pop out and shoot him while he is reloading if you are going to try. Or you could just use the grenadier class how it was designed to take out a sniper or machine gunner. (or anyone holed up for that matter)

Actually people shout often during battles belive it or not.

6. Choose class wisely, use the gun you are best with and not whats "cool." I know so many amazing riflemen who use sniper class because they think the gun is cool. If you suck at it don't use it. period.

This is not always possible since class slots are limited, say I am a good support gunner and I feel like playing sniper, I should be able to do that too. You cant play the same class all the time, it gets boring.

7. In game the x button helps you change your type of fire (burst, spray, or single shot) in some guns. Use it right and make use of it. In a sniping spot the best shot is single fire because it reduces recoil and you will be more likely to kill them. In tight spots use auto or burst (depending on what gun you have).

It is practically proven that although soldiers love the ability to have a gun shooting on full automatic, in real life conditions it is much more practical and effective to use a semi automatic gun (not counting machine guns) Soldiers using semi automatic guns will take time to line up their shots more accuratley and conserve ammo. Full automatic rifles are a waste and not as effective, I use semi automatic in all cases, if it is close range I can just hammer at the trigger, and end up wasting alot less ammo while shooting more accuratly, usually coming out of the encounter alive instead of the guy spraying away with his gun.

8. Commanders: do your job, don't send in reinforcements if you don't need it. Also make sure you make the right decisions (tatics).

Common Sense!

The marine grenadier gun is not at all terrible, it is a standard marine rifleman's gun with a grenade launcher attached, the drawback of being a grenadier is a slower move speed as you have to lug around the launcher and grenades. A insurgent with a pistol is alot less effective than a marine with a semi automatic assault rifle.

I disagree, use as much ammo as possible when playing support, lay down a blanket of fire where the enemy is suspected to be, you can always go to a resupply station if you run out of magazines. Your job is supression, you can not supress by conserving ammo (although you can do it on semi automatic by hammering the trigger of course)

11. Don't ever try to rush by yourself, be a group. This will help take out more enemies and cap the points.

True in most cases, although I have often seen the last guy capture a point when reinforcments are out. You should never really rush in even in a group, you need to be cautious and use stealth, rushing in with a group will assure your eventual death through machine gun or really any other gun that can accuratly and quickly lay down alot of fire, basically anything besides a shotgun or pistol will kill you for being so stupid.

No offense meant to writer but I feel the need to disprove bad tactics so people can enjoy their game more.

[insert quote about suicide bombing with the RPG]

If you have a perfect view of a whole group of enemys, wouldnt it be better to just....FIRE a rocket into said group? lol.
Seems kinda like a hassle to run all the way over.

______

Another tip:
  • People seem to have an EXTREMELY had time telling whos friend and whos foe.
  • (which makes no sense cause its about the same as any other game)
  • Anyways, a few things to look out for:
  • US Marines wear SUPER BIG backpacks. easy to spot.
  • US Marines wear the full body, all tan outfit.
  • Insurgents have an assortment of clothes
  • So if your a marine, dont shoot massive backpack wearing tan people, annilate anything moving with some sort of color on them.
  • Another great tip: If your not sure, DONT shoot it.
  • USE YOUR MIC -
"Hey, is that one of ours up by the gas station window?"
"Ya thats jim, he's getting a bag of potatoe chips."
    "Oh okay"

COMMUNICATION IS KEY FOR VICTORY
