Haven't played much lately but when I do get to play briefly I've been getting this message just as I'm almost connected to a server. Just started doing this for no reason. I haven't made any changes to my computer or anything.

This has been happening to me for the last couple of days.
Very frustrating indeed b/c this error, for whatever reason, totally locks up my computer & I have to reboot. If it happens a few times at a time & I give up & play on another server, which I don't like doing.

Thats a memory error. This can be fixed multiple ways.

1. your ram is bad, replace it. The way to test is by running a memtest.
2. The program itself or one of the DLL files has become corrupt. Try completely uninstalling steam, tf2, and any other source mods as well as HL2.
3. This is a windows error. Reformat...

Well that about covers all the ways I know how to fix that. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Registry??? maybe
I remember the exact same error ..
I just didnt play it for some time and it fixed on its own...
i think maybe my system was overheated

Eh every time I have seen that, it was from memory errors. Maybe its the service telling your comp to use DLL files that do not exist. Have had that one happen when trying to run some programs too. If it is server side then yeah yall know whats wrong lol.

This is not from RAM errors client side... Last time robo hobo had this problem, Kendle changed the MOTD and the problem went away INSTANTLY.... and it came back with the change back to the VM MOTD... far too many people are having the same issue at the same time for it to be client side.

I am only having this problem with the EGO servers.
I can connect to other servers with no problems.
My preference for playing is on the EGO servers, but I have had to stray
elsewhere for the past few days =[. [ unless I get lucky don't crash].

This is the case with everyone and the reason why I think it is the MOTD. robo hobo can play on any OTHER server and he can play on eGO servers if he clicks through the MOTD REEEEAAALLLYYYY fast to avoid loading the HTML....

Its not the HTML code causing the issue. It has to do with the javascript + flash embedded in the page that it is trying to load, coupled with the sound from TF2 in-game that you hear start to loop while it is loading. I was having a similar issue and the temporary fix I found was to just turn the sound quality to medium rather than high.

As mentioned here though the best way to fix the issue is to load a MOTD browser with MUCH MUCH less code in it. Avoid as much superfluous javascript as possible. Same with flash. Basic HTML should be fine. As well, you could check to make sure the code itself works with multiple different browsers and also has no issue with form factoring to different screen resolutions.

TF2 calls on IE to run its webbased applications, if your pc messes up some how its going to say TF2 when its actually IE causing the memory error while trying to run the flash.

I managed to get a good look at the website from Velocity Micro that is being hosted as the MOTD, and I think I found the problem. Holy Flash Batman... That site is practically written in Javascript with so many links I'm not surprised certain people have a problem running it >.<

Ugh java. Many people dont update their flash players either. This must be why this is only affecting some people. Otherwise everyone would be having these problems. Until the MOTD is changed, try updating your flash player.
