Liquid Cooling...

Hey guys,

For about a year now, I've been heavily considering switching to liquid cooling, but I've been turned off by the annoying installation and up-keep. But, I've finally decided to make the switch and was wondering if I could get a response to these few questions regarding the installation:


1. am i going to be required to remove my mobo, when installing the cpu plate?
2. how often is the fluid needed to be refilled?
3. will i need to modify my case at all (armor, full tower) to support the liquid cooling system/tubing?
4. is an extra power needed to run the system?
5. what are the best few liquid cooling systems on the market right now? (links please!)

I don't use liquid cooling so I'm not sure. Hopefully you get an answer.

3. Depends on the tubing. I had to mod mine but thats cause i went with 3/4" OD tubing which the armor only has knock outs for smaller tubing, so I had to drill holes in the back of my case.
4. The only extra power is the pump which dending on the pump you use is either directly plugged into AC, which means there's no extra power needed for your system. If its a dc pump then it'll run off your psu but its not a huge power draw. So unless your system is on the limits of your current psu, you should be fine.
5. Design one yourself. DO NOT USE A KIT. It depends on your budget. PM me if you want some recommendations once you have budget worked out.

Completely agreed. The only kits I actually like are the external ones if the case you use does not have the room for a water cooling kit. But since you have a full tower you will be fine. Also if you are not going to be over clocking a large amount I would recommend against a water cooling system. Most air coolers can handle overclocking. Water cooling is a plus when you are pushing your systems to the limits and running them there at the high oc'd speeds. Water cooling might be more of a pain that what its worth.
