A Heart Warming Story

A Heart Warming Story

A beautiful, true story by PurpleNurple:

Last night, an eGO invited me to his private server to test some cool maps with him for scrims and stuff. Well, an e from my list followed me. He jumped in the server, saw only 6 of us there and the weird map we were playing and immediately jumped out. He STEAM messaged me and it went something like this:

Sheogorath: That's not an eGO server
PurpleNurple: No, we are just testing some maps. We'll only be a few minutes, come back and test with us
Sheogorath: We aren't allowed in non eGO servers

At this point, I was a little worried that someone had misinterpreted some rules.

PurpleNurple: Who isn't allowed
Sheogorath: We are not
PurpleNurple: Who said so?
Sheogorath: My dad
Sheogorath: I'm only allowed to play in eGO servers
PurpleNurple: Wow, your dad is a smart man

Sheogorath is a young member of EdgeGamers whose dad is Docfate. He's played for a long time on our servers, was offered a promotion, but turned it down. I guess he just wants to be a part of something that is good, clean fun for himself and his kid.

We're honored to have Docfate as a part of our community and we're very proud of Sheogorath.

Thank you to PurpleNurple for providing a testament to the wonderful thing we’ve all built here.

Keep up the great work everyone!

awesome story.

I've been playing on EGO servers for quite a while now. I can't remember when I started. Whenever I go into another server I'm surprised by all the swearing and just disrespectful attitude the players have. I've been playing EGO servers so long that I've forgotten how bad other servers can be.

cute story, i only play on eGO servers aswell...feels weird playing anywhere else :p

True that. I feel so unwanted sometimes.

Couple of days ago, me and Chewy. were playing DoD, and we went to another server (wont name names.) and some of the people playing there were like "Great, some eGO $!@#@%@!@# are here."

I much prefer entering an eGO server and getting a warm welcome.

That's the reason I joined eGO, well one of the myriad of reasons :D Bradly was 6 when he joined, and he's still only allowed to play in eGO servers.

Half the time I'm always on eGO servers, and the other half are on random achievement servers just spending time getting the hard achievements that I wouldn't get in normal gameplay with my experience (Got a light for example).

But yeah, I hardly stray from eGO servers. Come to think about it, it's not unusual for those who are part of clans to stray from their servers. I guess it's just a feeling of comfort. If we like our community, we wouldn't go elsewhere. Not that we can't spend time on other servers, but rather because we feel comfortable with the community.

I don't know, I'm just saying my thoughts as it comes out. xD

I only wish more parents did this. Not only with games but real life stuff as well.
Kudos to Docfate!

I wish L4D servers were eGO servers... I dun really like hearing people cuss everytime a Hunter jumps on them or they get pulled by a Smoker... *sigh* darn you VALVe! darn you!

That is awesome it almost (literally) almost brings a tear to my eye. What a sweet story and i needed that today :D

Thanks so much for all your support. I really do feel like my son and I are part of something really special here. If it weren't for eGO he would not be playing this game. I have seen some things on other TF servers that have turned my stomach, so eGO or nothing.

Thank you again! You all rock!

PS: I didn't refuse the promotion, I just didn't realize that I had been promoted.....for several months!

Yeah, my dad asked me if TF2 was a game my brother could play. I told him probably not, unless he were to play on eGO servers only. For one, yeah, I would be able to keep an eye on him. For another, eGO's atmosphere is completely different than that of any other server I've been on, and has good rules in place to make it a friendlier place to play on.

I've only found one other server without those kind of rules with a similar atmosphere that I enjoy, but I still wouldn't want him on that because of the amount of swearing and general trash talk (however friendly it may be).

He's still a little too young to be playing at all, though. Maybe in a couple of years.
