Ego servers are lagging!

I don't have any metrics, but it has seemed subjectively choppier in the last week. I'll see if I can do some data gathering so I can help this thread go in the "usefuller" direction. May want to do a status+condump next time you guys experience something like this, since there was what appeared to be a full server crash after a player (who was subsequently banned) hopped on dustbowl and did one of those client side hooked achievement-spams Valve still hasn't been able to patch.

A lot of people complain about lag on 2fort instant (and I've experienced the same thing). That's the only server I notice it on.

Only lag that I can blame on servers are during team changes and map changes. I get the notice that I'm getting disconnected in my top left in red text (X amount of time before server disconnect).

As one of the people who spend their lives on the blackmesa server, I have noticed lag spikes over the last couple of weeks. The major ones have done the following, crashed everyone out of the server and then forced people to rejoin.

I had at the Blackmesa server one time when my team had like 5 heavis at the enemy spawn killing people and others. Bullets spamming. Man came a big lagg out off it.

Maybe it's your internet, or...settings on steam. I know my computer tends to lag some when I have everything on FULL BLAST.

Personally, I always hit a bad hop in Dallas just before the host for the servers. It results in a spike of up to 500ms, about every 4 seconds when doing repeated traceroutes. We've talked to TWC (our isp) about it, but they say there's nothing they can do.

The result of this is choppy gameplay 100% of the time on eGO servers. It saddens me to no end, but it's still worth playing on our servers. The community is just that good.

yea I just started having the lag issues in the last couple of days and I just tried switching to a different server and there was not any lag so I went back to BM and the lag was back... Maybe not lag but really choppy game play.

Yes there are some huge lags, sometimes around 4 am in the morning (western), the server just decide to crash out =[ it happened on Blackmesa and as well as Dustbowl :O. I think we need a demo of this!
