Is their anyway we could change the house forums into Map specific forums?:)

Yea, I'm liking that Idea. So you can still hang around on the forums with your old house buddies, but your not divided between :)

Because I was an RD who liked playing Kalt, but for Kalt discussion you'd have to go to SR forums, and whenever u go to another house's forums it feels like you don't really belong you know?

We already have forums where you can hang with your buddies. We have the DoD General forum right here. We have the eG and eGO forums. If you want to talk gaming, there's the Gaming forum. If you have a hilarious video, or a comic.. There's the Off Topic forum.

I'm not sure why server forums would be needed? Wouldn't that defeat the whole purpose of closing down house forums (again)? When the House Private forums were closed, to bring our DoD guys into the main mix, the houses started using their own recruiting forums to post. Now that those are closed down, you guys now want yet another forum so that you can go back to being cliques without tags? How about meeting some new people for a change? How about posting out in the open now, and proving that it won't make your computer burst into flames?

Think about this... TF2 has more servers than DoD does. We have 5. TF2 has 8. They don't have server specific forums. It was never needed. The only reason this Division is requesting server specific forums is because there used to be House Forums that were server specific. Let's not go there. Otherwise, we would need to have 8 more forums for the TF2 servers, 5 more forums for the COD servers, 3 more servers for CSS, and 2 more for INS servers. That's a lot of seperate forums, and people would rarely get to meet the rest of this great clan. Instead, let's go with having a central forum to talk DoD, right here, and then status level forums to discuss admin issues, like eG and eGO private forums.

Fluffy,

You know how highly I regard your opinion on matters, but I must disagree with you here.
First, you say that server map specific forums would be a new kind of House forums since people would just post within their own clique. I don't think that's true since for one it would bring the former Reservoir Dogs and Hell Hounds respectively into one forum for Flash. It would also allow for a lot of exchanges of opinions on strategies.

That brings me to my second point. You say we would need map specific forums for every division. I've played quite a bit of Cs:S in the past, and what you do is run in, plant/defuse the bomb or save/protect the hostages on any map. In DoD:S, however, you need quite a specific approach to every map. These approaches would fit nicely in a server map specific forum.

If there are not going to be server map specific forums, could we have a place to discuss custom maps besides www.kustomkettle.us? DoD:S has quite some of popular custom maps, and we have a lot of members interested in those maps.

Just my $0.02 (I've always wanted to type it that way :p)

Is there anyway that a map specific forum could be restricted to making posts about map specific stuff, rather than say "What did you get for Christmas?" or "Who's your favorite hockey team?".

Didn't think so. Nuff said.

I agree with Bas on this, and the strategy on DoD is really important, Rushing through the middle doesn`t work, you need to flank around, have sniper cover so that people can set up MG`s, and use diversions at one area to send a squad through another. It requires alot more strategy than running and planting like CS:S. And that would be a great place to talk about that strategy :)

I don't think the problem was association with a map, but rather to a tag on ones name. Houses or not, most people are going to play the same 24/7 servers that they always did. Forcing us to post on one forum will not change any of this, as map specific threads will have the exact same people posting in them.

I understand the leadership goal of a solidified division, but I really don't think the line will be drawn between cluttering the general forum with map specific strategy and event threads, and giving each map a sub-forum to discuss map specific items.

I would hope that as a group we could keep the proposed sub-forums to strategy only, in order to keep them in line with the new goal of clique elimination.

Yes, indeed. I think we all trust eachother well enough to think we can keep such a forum clean. Also, all of the forums are being moderated, so why couldn't these be too?

What should you write about in those forums? I dont think that those forums will not be used much.

It would be talk of Strategy, the best techniques, camping spots and team functions. Knowing all there is too know about a map makes you better at it.

You know when i first started to read this forum i was more along with fluffyt but after i read more with the moderation that could be used and the talk only on strategy and what not i think this is a great idea if we could have server based forums

Its a good idea but all you could really post about is the maps and strategy, which equals like 5 posts max :P

What else can you post about really? I think they'll just end up dead, but it is a good idea nonetheless.

I'm trying to get that point through, but my words must be written in invisible pixels.

I'm sorry did you write anything back ?

I'm just kidding, I don't know how much you can write about 'strategies' I think it would probably get off topic, It is basically getting our house forums back, but with different names..

it could also be used to exchange experiences on the server... like the other night on doner when we all camped our first and just stayed there for like an hour... could get people to open up.
