Turmoil in On-Line Gaming!
A lot of you guys may have been aware of the turmoil that is brewing in On-Line Gaming communities this past week or two.
A quick summary for those of you who are unaware, there has been a surge of servers using Fake Clients (aka Bots) to help them fill servers. Well that works great if you have the only server doing it. Of course, once your server uses it, someone else figures it out and they do it. Then you have 50% of the servers using these Fake Clients and it helps no one.
But, and I mean a big big but, it makes A LOT of people angry! Who likes to enter a server that says it has 30 of 32 players and there are none? Most of us have families, kids, and spouses who do not understand the joy of gaming. So our time is precious.
In this time of community crisis EdgeGamers would like to let the world know our official stance on a few issues plaguing the on-line community:
1. We do not use Fake Clients. We have never used them. Which is why we used to use NO BOTS in our server names and are now putting NO BOTS back in our server name.
2. Our GAMETRACKER and GAME-MONITOR ranks are not inflated by Fake Clients like many other communities are. We own the top ten because of what each of us stands for, not fake clients.
3. We DO NOT SELL reserved slots. No one, not even Kendle, Garden, or Deacon the three guys with the ultimate keys to the servers have reserved slots. We all wait to get into the servers. We thought about giving reserved slots to people who donate and maybe the Advisors and Division Leaders but we were overwhelming told no by the Advisors. Most of them joined EdgeGamers because they hated getting booted by reserved slots.
4. We do not run Fake Clients to sell reserved slots. Since we run neither Fake Clients nor sell slots, it would be impossible to set our Fake Clients to look like you need to buy a reserved slot to play on eGO’s servers.
5. 125% of all donations go directly to the server fund and clan activities. No one gets any benefit out of donations other than those in the Winners Circle, and the 600,000 people playing on our servers. JohnT, Tommy, Slayr, and several others are gaming on 2-3 year old worn out rigs. You can tell by our scores. If anyone should be getting free gear it is the three of us, but the rule is it must go to the Community. Even when Milwaukee tried to donate the Velocity Micro rig to a certain Community Manager, he was not allowed to. It went back to the community; much to the chagrin of that Community Manager with a 3 year old four letter word embarrassing computer that never allows him to get a positive score in the servers.
We at EdgeGamers would like to thank everyone for their hard work in building this community. We are the #1 on-line FPS gaming community in the world (and yes we can prove that) and we have you to thank for it!
We are locking this news post since it is a statement and we do not want any flaming going on. This statement is about EdgeGamers and our servers. It is not a statement about the communities using Fake Clients, Bots, or reserved slots.
