Graphic Stutter

Ive been having this problem for quite awhile and have really come to ignore it. Im just curious if anybody here has any ideas.

When i play TF2 I get a slight stutter that occurs regardless of the amount of players on the screen or my fps. It almost seems like I'm skipping a frame or two. It doesnt make the game unplayable. It's just annoying.

Ive done the basics, driver reinstall, firewall settings, etc.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

My system:
e6400 Core 2 duo
3gb of ram
8600gt 256mb ddr3 ram
Vista 32bit OS
 
what with ppl and earth watts?
how many case fans,dvd drives,hard drives?
cause 430 watts is enough to run what you listed with out a mother board..fans,hardrives,dvd drives..... use a wattage calculator i come up with at least 550 watts 22 amps needed. with out knowing what the rest of your rig is.. also turn of all backround junk see if that dont help seeing vista is a ram hog.
 
its not about watts its about amps.you can have a 1000 watt supply and it wont run right if it only has 15 amps. I used my head.but if i was to use 1 i would use the one on newegg.com.
 
Well I only really play TF2. I may be addicted, but that is a problem for another forum i think. I never noticed it when I played through HL2 and Portal, but that has been quite awhile. I recently picked up bioshock but haven't played it yet. I'll try installing that today and seeing if its there and report back.
 
It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm in an online game or by myself using the
"create a server" option with me on there alone. I did notice that it only seems to happen when I move the mouse. Meaning if i walk side to side with the keyboard it looks fine, but if i pan over with the mouse it is choppy. Im using a Logitech G5 mouse and have tried reinstalling the drivers. Again any and all help is appreciated.
 
I've been having some problems with TF2 also, turns out when you minimize the game, it gets all glitchy (like for me people were invisible, and turrets and stuff would be upside down)

fix that by quickly recording a 5 sec demo then stopping it. It resets everything back to normal.
 
Just a side note. I didnt know that about the demo recording fixing alt tab problems. Thanks.

Ive tried two different mice (is that the correct pluralization of computer mouse?) one usb and one ps2 and the stutter is there for both. I think ive done everything but reinstall the OS so far.
