Stats and Server Ranking

I used to be fixated with my ranking when I first started playing and got up to the top100 but then I fell the 250s and gave up. After a while though, I started to play with more and more regulars and I got to where I'm at now. I usually check it after I?m done for the day but I?m not upset or anything if I lost points. I don?t really care about the points anymore but I?m trying to "fix" my kpd since I play medic a lot. Why? Because it adds to my e-cred.

im too scared to look at my rank anyone mind doing it for me :3

I usually dont care bout my kdr or how many points i get. Usually just care if my team is winning or playing my favourite classes.

I did when i first started playing but now i just enjoy playing the games.

I check my rank rather often. I know I shouldn't get too tied up with scores and stuff and just have fun, but I tend to be pretty anal about stats and the like. The problem is that I seem to have capped at 8600 points or so. No matter what I do, even when I have good rounds, I always seem to have horrible rounds that bring me back down to around that area. It's really irritating. I kinda wish the point system were set up so that you don't lose points for dying, but instead gain fewer points or something like that. Sometimes I deliberately play on non-eGO servers so that I can goof off and not have to worry about screwing up my stats.

I check at the end of the day...I was so bad when I started this game and just made suicide runs so I am in the middle of fixing my KPD...Points matter, until you worry about them more than about having fun...

I cared for a while, had the hlstats control in my sig and all. It clashes with how I play, though. I try to join the teams that are hurting the most to balance things out. I want everyone to have a positive experience on our servers, not just one side. That's a really crappy way to get good points, though.

You'll see the top players clumping together on one side because it increases their chances of dominating the scoreboard even more. That kind of ruins the experience for the newcomers. But the more newcomers we have, the better the exposure for our sponsors, which in turn helps out the whole clan. I also play "bumblebee medic" a lot, flitting between wounded players, trying to keep the whole team alive rather than gravitate to the top demoman so I can get a high score vicariously.

I think people who play with the intent of cooperating with other players will find that they have fun even when they're consistently losing... like me :o.

I find it amusing that the best players complain about crits because they level the playing field in favor of newer players. It's the only random part of the game. Everything else is a deterministic machine... to me, randomness mixes things up and makes it a lot funner.

I don't keep track of mine. I generally have a score between 11,800 and 12,200 HLX points though, which keeps me in the top 1000. Pretty good considering all the suicide runs I do trying to get some bat kills :)
