The damage levels seem to be about the same, and the assault rifle shoots quicker/easier scope.

Whats the difference from the Russian sniper and the assault rifle with a scope?

Your question isn't really making much sense. Do you mean whats the difference between the M21, the Marine semi-auto marksman rifle, and the Insurgent Drugunov? Or are you talking about different weapons?

I think he means the scope. The american scope is really good... the classic scope and always seems to hit its mark. INS scope, however, sucks... it never hits right and is clunky and off... I would rather snipe with an AK47 than that.

real scopes arent always 100% accurate either

your seriously going to make this argument for a game that doesn't use projectile physics on any of the bullets?

For a game engine that uses hitscan physics, the only thing that explains the often "misses" is poor hitbox detection or more to the point poor model space v texture image overlay and "hitbox detection"

Difference is that the sniper can one-hit kill and the AK47 would be I think at least 2?

Rates are what allows your computer and internet connection to work at the same or relatively close speeds with each other. If your rates are off, you will experience a lag effect while aiming. While you may have aimed at a person's head, you may not hit it based on your rates.

type this in your console:

cl_cmdrate 99
cl_updaterate 99
rate 25000

WHOA there Frazer  I say both scopes have there pros and cons... Well i suppose the MArines scope has no cons but you know... It does  And for the insurgent scope, well you'd first say it does have allthe cons since people cant always easily get the hang of something that looks like they are looking down a toob with that has the Dragunovs famous scope design :D

Now Frazer, you can argue back all you want but i gotta tell you, The dragunov is NOT clunky or that you arent able to hit the target with it... you just havent gotten used to it the way i have Frazer

As for the marine godly sniper, i'd say everyone can get used to that gun. However, the thing is, its accuracy if you guys arent believing what iam saying, is in my perspective, less accurate than the DRagunov  DUN DUN DUN DUN!!!!

Iam not saying it has its edge to it even in long range combat but i think the dragunov can beat our classy green marine sniper any day in an UBER long range combat... ALbeit the dragunov may have the slightly increased recoil, its still deadly when shot at by it. THe Marine sniper on the other
hand may have a faster semiautomatic fire AND a clear Easy for all newbies to scope through, but for some strange reason that i myself cannot truely comprehend, ITs at a certain disadvantage in Uber long range combat and i mean UBER.. Not just long but UBER long  and wel maybe at the plain simple long range combat it certainly has a disadvantage. The shocker is that i can hit targets more off with a dragunov than our M21 sniper rifle at long range. NEvertheless, The M21 is perfect for mid and close quarter combat in comparison to the Dragunov... But its long range capability is sadly... questionable.

And for authenticity's sake... that IS what a dragunov scope looks like.

As far as the rifles, they are pretty similar in principle if not function.

Both are deemed as Marksman rifles, not "Sniper" rifles. They are for
precision engagements within a certain distance, say 75-900 meters.
Both of these weapons are ideal for carry in an urban environment
such as what we have in Insurgency but are rarely employed properly.
But do you have any idea what kind of hell would be raised if a modern combat game DID NOT have a "Sniper" rifle????

Besides... do you think there is an Active Marine anywhere who cannot
engage and eliminate targets at the relative distance in this game with
an unmodified M16A2? The scoped rifles are in this game to pacify those
that feel they need a sniper rifle, nothing more, unless you actually employ
the team to use it as a precision tool and I have YET to see that happen.

Hold up. I ment the 2 insurgent snipers.

And jedi, why is it that nothing makes sense to you? :D

Well then the answer is EASY!

One of the INS sniper rifles is a SPORTING RIFLE! yes... a hunting rifle.

That is all! Carry on citizen.

Sniper vs Sniper

I agree with Khosrowshah (thank goodness for ctrl+v).
However; The "Dragunov" in this instance was not assembled by Russians. In all likelihood this is a licensed or copied version that does not use the Russian standards for quality control(if any). The Russians have always placed a high value on their marksmen, and as such, their sniping weapons have always been of a somewhat good quality, much like real Russian AK's.

By contrast, the M21 designated Marksman's Rifle (DMR) is produced not by the lowest bidder, but by a team of trained gunsmiths who use the same methods in making Olympic Grade rifles. This treatment however, puts the guns several months and serveral hundred dollars on the uncomfortable side.
In addition, those snipers are better educated and take greater pride in their weapons than the average Mujaheddin (Insurgent), so are issued better, albeit more temperamental weapons, while the other side is given a weapon that no force on earth can destroy, but can't hit anything.

WHAAAAAAAAAI Missed the main conversation. T_T. Curses. I had a really well thought out reply too.

i snipe as a INS rifleman... so I think that is the better gun!

It didnt make sense to me either lol....... you gotta clearify buddy ole pall :D
BAsically all you had to write was, and here is a pretty sweeet example using your quote above

" Guys, hold up. Iam wondering. As an insurgent, iam wondering if anyone can compare between the 2 insurgent snipers, regarding scope, portability and usage. Whats your opinion on the gun guys"

Now aint that a dandy example :)
=======================================================
Aight now to answer that, Both sniper rifles similar to the comparison between the Dragunov sVD and the M21 Marine sniper, Have Pros and Cons.. BAsics is that first off... THEY BOTH Deal the same damage.

HOWEVER, the Enfield has a scope that in omy opinion is far superior than the marine scope and actually has a much thiner cross pattern which allows you to pick off the heads much easily than the marine sniper's scope and the dragunov also.. HOWEVER, the con is that its a bolt action so taking out the next target runing next to your first kill will be a problem since he might notice you while you are reloading for the next hit.

ON THE OTHER HAND! The Dragunov is a semiautomatic and once you get used to it, you can i assure you, KIll atleast 11 runnin targets if you are accurate with the dragunov... YEs 11 and not 10 since you may perhaps do a double kill (YEs it works in this game..... 2 Headshots means double kill... Chest will only hurt the marine behind the guy that died) Oh and yea, scope isnt pretty and isnt as good as the enfields scope... There you have it. the Conclusion to your dilema :p

I am going to have to disagree with all of you. The PSO-1(the one the drag uses) scope is one of the best combat scopes ever made. Once you zero it, you never have to touch again except to realign it. The scope has a range finder, elevation marks, and windage adjustments etched into the glass. So, unlike the M14 EMR scope, you never have to adjust for range or windage in combat. As well, the scope also has night illumination and an IR filter for detecting NVGs. Unfortunately, all of these things are useless in INS. But, they come in quite handy when playing Armed Assault. (Great game btw)

The main difference between the SKS and the SVD:

The SVD shoots 7.62x54, the SKS shoots 7.62x39.

Yeah Hyperion, same bullets size, bigger casing on the SVD = more damage, :D
