I was always wondering how to use a scout because I see people pwning with it 24/7.
I am ok with the AWP but its a noobs weapon and got banned... so ya.

when moving and shooting, tap the shift key or whatever you have binded to walk. It gives it perfect accuracy just like you were standing

Remember to pay attention to the other people around you as well as your target.

If your playing on a server where they ban you for using a certain weapon, your on the wrong server

AWP isn't a noob wep for one. If you think it is you should quit CSS now.

People use AWP all the time yes, but if you ever scrim a good AWPER is very critical.

Geno, eGO servers don't allow you to AWP for one. Yes though, if they banned you because you used an AWP, 1) they should take it off the server. If they banned you because they thought you hacked then lol you shouldn't of said that because no one bans you because your "Good" with a certain wep unless there Mommy bought the server for them and there twelve years old.

I'm not saying anything bad about awpers because I love awping and awping does take a lot of skill, however the scout does require the same amount if not more. It is possible to get running headshots etc. with scout, and you most def. CANNOT do that with an awp without being within 2 feet of an enemy.
Go practice on a scoutzknivez server.
The gravity will be very different but it will help you a LOT.

Headshot. 1 shot kill. I took down 4 awp people with a scout before. All headshots. That was on my old community, WooMaps.

No scope imo is better its lets you see more that you see with he cross hairs and it is extreme accurate for so reason.

Scout requires a lot of mental energy and dexterity.

1. Assuming youre right handed (mouse), ensure that you have some sort of bone support, i.e. desk, armrest. Use your mouse for up and down (y axis) and smaller movements. Your small nudges are used to aim for the head of your oppenent, and also minor corrections.

2. All of your major movements will come in a strafing manner using A and D on your keyboard, Left and Right respectively. This is used to wholly acquire your target for quick pop shots and more steady smaller ones. ( ever wonder how that scouter was hitting you so quickly? this takes practice.)

focus on 1 sight picture. once you have seen your target he should either already be in your sights or very close to it. Using Left and Right we can strafe to achieve a better shot. If you are taking fire from that target, use whatever cover is nearby simply by strafing to it in short burst taps. You can assume that if you have ducked in quick enough, your target will be in the same spot allowing you to quickly engage him. Using your flash memory or 1 sight picture and the speed advantage with the scout, you can swiftly engage multiple targets using cover and strafing.

3. Finally, your trigger (mouse 1) finger must be hairpin and light. Use a lighter click with your pointer finger toward the furthermost foward part of mouse button 1. This sounds silly but coupled with your elbow/arm's bone support keeps your shots swift when theyre needed most.

Practice, Practice, Practice. Use your scout's movement bonus to evade and fall back to more benefitial cover, eliminate your opponent and the proceed to clear that danger area using large strafing movements. Use your secondary to clear smaller areas (hallways). Also, dont be afraid to shoot often, you may be surprised to see how many kills are achieved through blind smoke or doors with the scout, I garuntee you wont run dry by rounds end.
Thanks for the great community!

How to use a Scout

Just a side note everyone before you read, all you need is the console commands to significantly improve your scouting. There is a lot of mental stuff with shooting any gun well, but that can wait. The bottom line is:

better registry=more kills

*[to help separate the quotes i changed the colors and made my text one up]

Okay, the following information comes from one of my favorite counter strike source websites for strategies and tips. I use it religiously when i want the "good stuff". This comes from an article on improving your scout/AWP shot. The first part i find very important so i made it bold:

"if there is one thing i get tired of hearing in a scrim or scrimmage it's this.

"omg [***] there is no reg or registration in this server my crosshair was right on his head."

well your cross hair may have indeed been on the enemy's head.
but as far as the game code is concerned you may have missed by a mile

so what i am going to do is show you how to make you awp shot's register or reg better
these tips well also help with all the other weapons in counter strike source"

So, he then begins to list the console commands to help you:

"type these cvar commands in console inside counter strike source to enable the console hit the "~" also know as the Tilda key. if after pressing the "~" key nothing happens you will have to check the enable developer console setting in keyboard/advanced settings in counter strike source.

cl_interp 0

cl_interpolate 0

cl_lagcomp_errorcheck 1

cl_cmdrate 100

cl_updaterate 100

cl_rate 20000

cl_smooth 0

rate 25000

zoom_sensitivity_ratio 0.76

after you enter all of those cvars/console commands

close counter strike source then restart steam"

If you feel that you want to excel at scouting, here is some more detailed stuff he talks about(however, you'll probably be content already):

"now that we have taken care of that problem let's focus on you yes you
it is extremely important to remember that when you play
not to grip your mouse to tightly with your hand. because when you do that your
muscle's have tendency to jerk. usually resulting in you missing the kill so keep that in mind while you play. another this to remember is to make sure you stop walking before you shoot this sounds very obvious but this little trick is what separates the pub stars from the pro players. you can practice this by making your own counter strike source server and practice running and stopping about 50 times a day until you get the timing down pat."

Lastly, i would like to reinforce a similarity to what some of you have touched on. Not only should you slow down before you shoot, but you need to completely stop. None of your improved registry will matter, if you don't stop.

So there you have it folks, how to use a scout.

Yeah none of that walking around garbage.

go out and strafe it up.

Moving left and right is all you really need.

It's the split second where you move an opposite direction that your body is at a complete stop and this is when you want to shoot.

So like artikul was saying those shots where you pop out from around the corner and nail someone are just precisely timed and controlled shots.
you're mainly focusing on your target and keeping track of the direction you're moving and then lining up the cross hairs and moving the other way and shooting.

practice.

is it better after a shot to quickly switch to pistol then switch back or just stay zoomed in?

ok. one thing is, the awp is for the noobs who dont have skill. lol. no offense 2 u guys. and a tip for the scout. when your running around waitin for someone, and someone comes. dont shoot rite at ther head, cuz im positive that ull miss. u probably have a 1 out of 1000 chance of hiting them at all. so thats a tip bro. seeya in long hall! ;)

awp takes skill have u ever seen a CPL awper those guys are insane and they dominate everyone anyways with the scout its fun to no-scope so u can see whats going on :P

To answer Zan's question, yes, it is much better to quick switch to your secondary and then back to your scout/AWP.

Note to the Uninformed: Go watch some sourceradio.com movies/matches anything for source and you will see what you've been missing out on. AWP doesn't require skill...pffffffff.
