Blue Screen of Death AHHH

**runs away screaming**

Sounds like the new PSU is too low amp-age to me. Can you give us some stats on the PSU? Also, what CPU are you using?

Edit: there are two types of blue screens, one that is a lighter blue and usually says press something to continue, and the other is darker blue and usually says something about dumping the core. Which type is it?

What wattage was your old power supply? Why did you replace it- besides the obvious MORE POWER reason. If the old one is still good, perhaps you could put it back in and see if that makes the problem vanish.

Normally upping the wattage shouldn't cause a problem, except that it's probably throwing off more heat. If you were borderline to begin with then this could put you over. I don't imagine that 9600 card is going to cool things off at all either. However, it's quite possible that you jiggled something else during the swap and didn't catch it.

Like KillZone said, give us a little more to go on. Does it boot up fine or not at all? How much uptime do you have before it crashes? If you leave it alone to cool for a few hours does this increase the uptime? If you reboot from a crash, how soon until it crashes again?

Dual 12v Output

MTBF: 80,000 hours

My cpu is an Intel Celeron E1400 (Might of spelled it wrong)

It veries, It has never crashed while just on here, but when i play css its from there, and i think it might be heating my Gcard....I had people do this for me, and i watched them. When they used it, It was fine. I have a good startup Nothing goes wrong. It just happens and random when in css. I think it happend once while i was browsing the internet. I did open it up to put 1gb more ram, and i dont know what my other wattage was, it didnt have anything on it when i took it out. Everything is in place, i made sure of that. I do have a cord running on the back of it, you can see it from the outside. I dont know what it would be. And no this never happend with my last PSU, but they recommend it since i was upgrading the GT....

Gotcha. Yeah, you'll need it for that 9600. This may sound strange but are your drivers up to date? I used to have a problem with my 8600 but only in TF2 online. Sometimes it would dump the game, sometimes it would BSOD the whole system. Yet HL/Portal single-player worked fine. I went nutso with the fans, moved them around, ran thermal tests, and puffed smoke through there to optimize airflow. Comp sounded like a jet engine. Turns out there was a driver issue with that card and Vista64bit Ultimate ed. Updated the driver about 4-5 months ago and it's been stable ever since. I even dialed the fans back so people can hear me in voice-chat. Crazy huh?

Well, now it last longer, the blue screen and i scimmed through it, It was saying remove any new hardware and un-install it, Something like that, i want this to work, And i got to play css for a total of 5 minutes.....I am really mad right now...

OK now i am on my little brothers computer and i cant even start mine up without getting that screen, im so pissed right now since i thought this was a good thing updating and all. And this never happend with my old PSU so idk what the problem is!?!?!? AHHHHH i want to just throw it out my window HELP!

when did you install that memory strip? after you put the PSU in? if you did, take out the memory module that you added. then see.

Just for reference to anyone else reading this thread, the problem seemed to be solved by taking out the old stick of ram, which evidently wasn't compatible with the newer sticks.

Solved?

If you don't mind La Vapker :D could you post here the solution you and At Ten came up with? Might help others in the future.

/like anyone uses the "search" function

Yes, i took out the old ram and just left the new 2GB ram and it works fine, It just shows you how something you wouldnt think mess it up, DOES! Thanks for the shoutbox help atten!!! I LOVE YOU
