Scout update!!!!!

I would have to assume that cp_egypt is just a very good community map.

Yeah. The community maps have been around for a while already. Valve just decided to include them in the update to share the maps they think are good.

Looks like the new scattergun involves high recoil and damage with a low rate of fire. I'm also guessing it only holds like two shells at a time.

From the Egypt update it looks like you can use the new shotgun recoil to move around almost like a double jump. Means if you keep your double jump, now you're even more mobile, but if you get the sandman, you aren't screwed. See? Valve knows what they're doing. No need to freak out. I for one am glad that they didn't just go with three weapons that just do slightly different damage.

I'm guessing this new shotgun will be used almost exclusively for a long while.

Oh also, it looks like the Bonk drink has a cooldown that makes scouts slow and sluggish for awhile. Like a caffeine crash. That's pretty cool.

Theres a big conspiracy theory on the steam forums about how this is either going to be the spy update or a combination of the two.

That conspiracy stuff is interesting, but I don't buy it at all. People are looking far too deep into the whole thing and making some strange assumptions based on the past.

Though now that I have said that, with my luck I will be proved wrong. I also will say that the Egypt map seemed odd to me from the moment I saw it and that the Cola can hit me as looking a little wrong when compared to the rest of the artwork as well.

Maybe something's up, but an elaborate cover up of the spy update? I think not

As I posted in the steam forums:

The way my partly optimistic mind is seeing it, we are going to get one more fishy sounding update on Monday, followed by the Tuesday update entitled "The Truth". It will be a "Meet the Class" style video showing the scout bragging about his new weapons only to be EPICALLY BACKSTABBED by the spy, who then reveals that he is the mastermind who disguised this update as the scout's. He then explains all of his new weapons in 007 Q style. The video then ends with the scout getting revenge by bonking the crap outta the spy with The Sandman. We then get both updates and everyone is happy!

It would make my day.

And think about it, what's the worst disguise for a spy? A Scout.

The entire thought between the can saying 'isotopes' and that somehow proves it's fake is entirely laughable.

The isotopes joke is a running gag with anyone making up a fake energy drink. Look up Powerthirst for one, or watch the movie Idiocracy:

"BRAWNDO! It's got ELECTROLYTES! IT'S WHAT YOUR BODY CRAVES!!!"

And when people were talking about feeding Brawndo to plants (bad idea since electrolytes are salts and ruin the fertile topsoil in any agriculture field over a period of reverse erosion), the one smart character asks "Do you even know what electrolytes are?" The only answer people can come up with is, "They're what plants crave."

And Powerthirst: "IT'S GOT ELECTROLYTES TURBOLYTES POWERLYTES MORE LYTES THAN YOUR BODY HAS ROOM FOR!!"

Stuff like that. Valve is just jumping on the bandwagon.

Also, I think the scout artwork looks fine. Why are people so angry about it to the point they think it's fake?

Not really. People never really pay all that much attention to scouts on their team and don't tend to notice someone going slow or doing their own thing as a scout.

A medic not healing anyone nor showing an ubercharge meter or wandering far away from the fight, now that's different. Medic is the worst class to disguise yourself as. I've sniped enemy spies as medics because I can see the lack of an ubercharge meter a mile away.

I got comments for this on the steam forums as well. Yes, when a good spy is playing, the scout is a fine choice, but for most amateur spies, the scout is the worst choice you can make.

On the topic of the scout achievements, I think they seem pretty reasonable. Not too difficult, and you can get a lot of them by just playing scout normally.

It's just a guess, but I think the Sandman is actually going to have a bigger knockback on a succesful hit than the normal melee weapons. We'll see soon enough, it's going to get released in a few days.
