Make sure your vid card fan is operating correctly. I had a GPU fan go out. It still moved, just very slowly. Overheated vid card = poor performance.

have you checked that none of your RAM chips are fried? cz that happened to me, but then my pc wouldn't start... yeah, i think i'll agree with Vader, it does seem to be an overheated GPU/mo bo.. what would help to distinguish is this: does your computer lag all the time, or just in games? cz if it's only in games, then 90% it's a GPU fan giving up the spirit, if it's all the time, it's a more general problem.. also, something that may sound really stupid, but it could also contribute to the problem: does your hard disk have enough free space? is it highly fragmented?

It happens like in random little spots mostly in games but sometimes when im on internet or desktop.
How do i check how hot im going?

Hope none of my stuff is failing. I dont got money
(I was laggin writing that ^^)

I think you've solved my problem too, When i play left for dead it lags alot, CSS, Other steam games it's fine, doesn't shut off, but it lags alot..

My card is a Geforce FX 5950 so that could be why.

You should probably start by openning the case and checking the fans good. You can probably check the temperatures in the motherboard bios by hitting "delete" or "tab" key when starting up.

it dose sound like the card might have gotten heat damage but the only thing that makes me think other wise is you said it lags in the desk top? well i have come across problems like this before and it was not the video card it was the power supply dieing wen it gets a large load ( like a boot up or trying to start programs ) the card starts to lag and some times it can crash in game and the screen will go blank if the fan is clean and your temps are under 50-60c idle and 70-80C under load then the card is probably ok and you might want to check your power supply

I have a 300 ps and im pushing it to the max it can handle so maybe i need a bigger one?
If anyone has a bigger one like 500 ill take it no charge.

ya that's probably your problem when you run your psu maxed out all the time the components start to over heat and fail and some times it can take a few months to show up but the best thing to do is to make sure wen you get a power supply that is big enough so that wen your pc is maxed out it only uses 80% of the psu to prevent over heating

i personally run 50 to 60% max on my psu to help keep my power bill down and to keep my psu temps down its run more efficient at 50 to 60% load that's why i use a 1600 watt ultra x3 psu : )

but you could get away with a 500 to 600 watt psu that would be perfect for your rig

My bro says its viruses?
Im gonna see if its viruses, if not then im gonna get a job!!! WHAT?
Then ill buy a psu.
OR save up get a new computer at one of the fine ego mall people :). maybe a dlink router too.
