First and foremost. The M4 aimpoint is your friend. Accurate, powerful, reliable. This one weapon is the most wanted out of all the weapons in the game. If you see this weapon and you are rifleman, go for it. However do not, I repeat, DO NOT run into the middle of the street to grab it. That weapon will do you no good if you die 3 seconds after grabbing it. Might as well be walking backwards down the street jumping up and down. Also when using this weapon, full auto is for close quarters only. At 150-200 yards you MIGHT hit 1 bullet on a target with a 30 round magazine. Or you can control your fire and hit all of them...your call.

Grenades, this goes for insurgents too, grenades are not to be thrown down the street on almaaden. They are not to be thrown onto the point your teammates are running to, and they are most certainly not a way to commit jihaad on either team. What they are, are round balls of exploding death. You throw them and 1 of 2 things will happen. The enemy will see them, run out of the cover and you shoot them. Or they wont see them, and they turn into a cloud of red mist. Either way you win.

Grenadier. Your main weapon is the M16. Your 203 is there to kill people behind cover. Using it for anything else will get you killed.

Smoke grenades, these are mobile cover. Let me clear this up for you. They conceal your position. If the enemy decides to fire into the smoke, it will not protect you. Throwing smoke ahead of you only reveals your general location. Smoking objectives will cause 1 thing and 1 thing only to happen. R P G. When you smoke an objective while capping it, you conceal your location. But you pretty much guarantee grenades and/or rockets to fly into the smoke. Whats worse, you cant see the nades, so you die and the point doesnt get capped. Smoke around the objective, or doorways that the enemy likes to come out of.

Your sidearm. This weapon is pretty weak, but very accurate. It is entirely possible to kill people in this game at 500+ yards with the pistol. However I would not suggest doing this. This weapon is what you pull out whenever you run out of ammo and do not have time to reload.

Marksmen. You are not a sniper. You are a marksmen. There is a difference. Your job is to move with your team, identify enemy locations, and take out targets of opportunity, and high threat targets. IE RPGs.

For all marines there is one order that prevails above all else. R U S H in all push maps, ALL PUSH MAPS, if you do not control alpha within the first 2 minutes. You WILL lose that map. Move up and take the point before the insurgents can set up a defense. In some maps this means B also.

Stay together. It is very hard to rambo in this game, and impossible to rambo perfectly. Stay with your squad, move up, and take the points. If someone in your squad dies, do not turn and look at him. Get to cover and find something to shoot at that isnt your team. Which brings me to my next topic.

Spread out. Never, ever, EVER be so close to your teammates that 1 explosive will kill all of you. This includes capturing the objectives. IF 8 of you are in a tiny cap square IE C on sinjar, you are an RPGs dream come true. Just ask kingback. If large number of you are on a cap, leave 2 there and the rest of you establish a perimeter. I guarantee you that you will capture a point every time if you have the immediate area secure. As opposed to hiding in the corner praying you see them first.

Communication. This is important. Tell your teammates where the enemy is. This does not mean "There is an enemy over there." It means give clear detailed spots.

One thing above all else to remember. This is a video game. Not the real thing. Those bullets will not come through your screen and kill you. So don't cower behind the wall, get out and move your butt to the objectives.

Good post. I'd add a couple of things.

Yes the Aimpoint is an excellent weapon. But it takes practice. Especially since it has a small magnification factor it takes some getting used to in tighter quarters.

The best tactic generally is to throw smoke grenades as close to the enemy position as possible. When you smoke your position what you in effect do is allow the enemy to get closer to your position without being seen. When you smoke their position you force them to come through the smoke right into your sights.

As in the example above Sinjar C, you can do better by throwing a smoke up on the balcony etc. This forces the insurgents to come down the stairs (if they can find them in teh smoke) rather than get a shot off from the balcony. While at the same time keeping your view open to see them coming.

You can also use it as a diversion. I have smoked C on sinjar when playing on a low population server. Then I don't cap. I go around the back and find where the enemy is blindly firing into the smoke from. Then I can take them out and cap safely.

Just consistantly make it to boot camp and you will learn what you need to know to make it as a member of a team.

Decent info. Remember that some weapons selections such as your aimpoint is an opinion.
I personally prefer the iron sighted M4 which fits my requirements for accuracy which I find
more important than knockdown such as with the AK series.

Some lessons I've learned, or am trying to anyway:

If you go around a corner in close quarters and you don't already have your iron sights up, don't bother bringing them up, just try to "no-scope" them.

Stop shooting at people's knees. You just end up shooting between their legs. If you are shooting at their legs start aiming higher while you're firing to finish them off quickly.

just a little side comment... aim center mass and you will hit the target EVERY time. the sternum is what i usually aim for. it is the largest target to aim for on a person.

slow is smooth, smooth is fast. that means take well aimed controlled shots to hit your target. he may be firing no scope or full auto at you... who do you think will win?!

in the army we never roll out rambo style. you might get lucky but it just doesnt work. so why do it here?

most important thing i have learned playing this game is HAVE FUN!!!

Be patient but not hesitant. Be brave, but not careless. Above all, do not be afraid. The situation may look grim at times but you must be dedicated to your duties and objectives. Remember, the luck favors the bold. Oh yea and a good sniper helps too.

also remember whenever you are in enemy territory or near where u know an enemy is. when u pop out from behind a wall be prepared to shoot. i have seen way to many people just keep running and turn and get shot to pieces. take cover and lean out to check, if bullets dont start flying your way your probally fine. if they do kill them before they kill you.

Prefiring corners helps too. Although people will call you a hacker for it. I personally prefire every single spot that they enemy loves to camp at.

if you look hard enough, theres a server using the new test range map v3, it streches as far as like 1000 yards and i can hit the 1000 meter (which is the iraqi guy) in the head with a single fire rate.....i'm not that bad at hitting the dude.........or i'm just a born killer >.>

entering and clearing a room:
at minimum you want 3 guys on a fire team to enter and clear the room. viiolence of action is a must! scan your area. most important thing about going in a room is getting through the door. its called the fatal funnel for a reason. if someone gets hit trying to get in then jump over his body. if you cant then peel back and camp that door at the ready and have the last man toss a nade in there.

pie the corner:
when you come to a corner and need to clear it to get across the street, one man kneels one and one man stands. they lean or step out at the same time and fire at the target if one makes himself available.

any questions on tactics... feel free to ask me. i will help. also i attended bootcamp wk 5 the other night and our DI is very competent. it doesnt take long and its worth the time!

Generally the kind of advanced tactics you are describing, will not happen with pubs. If we happen to get a scrim team, then yeah we can do those kinds of things. However with pubs you generally have to tell them what to do with pictographs and popup books.

One thing I REALLY want to start doing, is coming up with nicknames for all the places in the popular maps. Sinjar kind of already has them. Alpha there are the left and right buildings...duh. Bravo building, dbl wall, three windows building, and the big building that sucks to clear. However, maps like haditha you have, "That building that you run into to go down into delta that the ins spawn near" Yeah...im going to understand that lol.

When you know your maps, you know all the little spots to hide in, and all the little pathways that the enemy simply doesnt know about. You may have your favorite strategy, you may use it effectively, but there will always be someone who learns your habbits, and will be waiting for you every time. When you know your maps, you know what pathways there are around said person. And for the times when you have to kill him, that is where teamwork comes in.

That's why I love Haditha! While the other team is sitting around saying "there's a dude in that building to the right of the ins spawn from the marine spawn further down the street" I just snuck up on them and killed the guy listening for instructions.

haha yea. haditha is my favioret map i know all the hiding spots there. but then im always accused of hacking because i look for peoples shadows coming around corners.

Im sure we have said it before and i will reinstate it.. 203 and SAW.. MOST POWERFULL WEAPONS!!!

PRACTICE YOUR 203!!!!!!!! you will be able to nade push much better.. and open up space.to rush! with offcourse the SAW COVERING YOU!

Thank you lightning for pointing out that the m14 is not a sniper posision and when you get good with it it becomes a down right wonderful offencive attack weopon.

ROFL!!! i didnt think about that but it is so true! at fort irwin we use hollywood names for our training area locations. that might be a little too much though. im with you on naming places though. maybe if we got a topographical picture of each map then we could name the spots appropriately and have our guys memorize them.

The last I heard, Herm is still working on making a competitive team for our INS division. If that does get up and running as hoped, it would be the perfect place to implement these tactics.
