D-Link just released some new products as a part of the "Amplifi" line. Both the router (DIR 645) and the WAP (DAP 1525) boast a new type of antenna that uses "smart beam" technology which directs the wireless signal at the device for maximum signal strength. This directed signal is also supposed to follow the wireless device which keeps the singnal strong and helps to eliminate dead zones.

Right now I'm using it as a bridged repeater and soon will pair it up with another.

I'm using a Cisco PIX which is a Firewall/Router designed for SOHO use. Provided you can find a basic config and are ok with some networking commands it's rock solid.

I won a D-Link DIR-655 Gigabit router from our clan. I used wireless once and was able to access my internet about 3/4 mile away down a hill. But I mainly hard wire directly into my Plasma, Blu Ray and Receiver with CAT6:thumbup:.

I'm currently using a 2Wire 3801HGV, Because it came with my U-Verse. So far, it has been great with performance and gaming. I have 2 brothers that love to play online game and my dad works on wireless networks for AT&T so it takes a lot of load. Since we got it about 3 months ago, It has never once Dropped a connection and its wireless has a fantastic range with no loss in speed. We have a total of 16 Devices on our network (9 Wireless/7 Wired [This Includes the Set Top Boxes for TV]), and so far, i see no problem with it.

I'm sporting apples airport. Best router I've had yet. Kinda pricey but I feel like it was worth it. I'd recommend it.

The Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band is pretty standard, but the dual band is wicked nice. I have the whole house wireless running through the 5,0ghz band and the 2.4ghz for the desktops everything runs REALLY smoothly. awesome router with an easy setup.
If you need to do port forwarding etc its very fluid and easy to do.

Linksys Ev4200v2...

I picked up the Cisco Linksys Ev4200v2 this spring after we got one in for testing in our shop. Can't even say how impressed I am with the way this bad boy preforms.

I purchased the D.Link DIR-825 Router, and am so far pleased with it's performance. Not only is this router for extreme use, but it has the dual band Wireless N technology. I get blazing fast speeds off of the 5Ghz band, while maintaining backwards compatibility with the 2.4Ghz band. It's all gigabit ethernet which is a plus, even though my entire house is networked through a netgear 40 port switch. Range suffers a bit, but overall, very decent router. I am getting 99% of my internet speed through this thing! 61 Mbps down 13 Mbps up!

Im running an EA3500 and I must agree.... I love the speed, 1 gb/s LAN'd and 150 mb/s for everyone on my wi-fi

With the DD-WRT firmware, you can do a lot more with your router than the stock firmware allows. I have increased the broadcasting wattage so my wifi network range covers down to the neighbor's house, not for them, but so I have FULL coverage and MAXIMUM bandwidth in my house and yard.

You can pick up both the router and cable modem on ebay for a couple of bucks and flash to this DD-WRT, or Tomato (another firmware) if you prefer.

With a cable modem, I really don't need better than DOCSIS 2.0 because sites (or seeders) I download from still limit me to a certain rate. I am really looking for low latencies for twitch games such as DOD:Source, or L4D2, et cetera...

With a router, 802.11g is more than sufficient for me, as I don't stream video on my network, I have portable hard drives which I use to transfer movies about. I do not run a dedicated file server.
