Should have the cash for this baby in a month or so...I miss TF2 soooo much. :(

CPU: AMD Phenom™II X4 940 Quad-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology
5 1/4 Drive 1: LG 20X Double Layer DVD+-RW Super Allwrite + Lightscribe Technology
Drive 2: LG 16x DVDROM (didn't feel like springing for a Bluray :P)
CPU cooling: CoolerMaster V8 Gaming CPU Cooling Fan (Silent (22dBa) and sufficient for the little bit of OC'ing I'll do.)
Primary HDD: 64 GB Ritek RiDATA 2.5 inch SATA Gaming MLC Solid State Disk
Data HDD: 1TB (1TBx1) SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM Hard Drive
Mobo: ASUS M3A78-T AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD
RAM: 4GB (2GBx2) Corsair PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory (Someday when 1088 is cheaper and I have some cash to spare I'll upgrade to that)
PSU: CyberPowerPC XF800S Performance ATX 2.0 Power 800 Watt PSU
Sound card: Creative Labs SB Audigy SE (Not an audiophile, I just want to take a little load away from the processors)
Thermal display/fan controller: Xion XON-MTR002B Color LCD Thermal Control Panel Display
Video card: ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB DDR5 PCI-Express Dual DVI-I & TVO

Anyone have experience overclocking a system like this? I've read guides and it should be simple but it's useful to have someone who's done it let you know how it worked out for them, any problems they had, etc. Thanks.

I have an old friend who runs a computer shop in my hometown. He may be able to get me a hookup and build it for me on the cheap, but if not I'll probably build it myself. It depends on how much it all costs when I price it out. Once I get to around $1,500 in savings I'll know that I have enough to really accurately price everything out and see what to do. If I bought a prefab from a company it'd probably be Extreme Gear, buyxg.com. That system would run around $1540 after shipping and tax.

You should look into Intel Core 2 Quads. They have dropped in price quite a bit, since the release of the Core i7 platform. They are easy to overclock, most of the time, and do not run temperatures up crazy like AMD processors. This is mainly due to the power consumption.

if you got any oc questions you can hop in vent or pm me i have been over clocking pc for about 8 years now : )

i think it sounds good but i wouldn't worry too much about getting a sound card with a powerful cpu like that i am sure it will handle your sound just fine.

hey i have acctually overclocked this cpu very well , look at my signature , im sure you dont want anything that crazy , so heres what id do , just change your cpu multiplier to 17.5 times and youll havea 500 mhz oc , it should be stable , 18x is like 3.6 ghz , so its easy , just try it no issues and youll run cool on stock cooling , if you need help just ask .

and i promise you my phenom Ii will own an i7 extreme all day (stick with the phenomII)

I just upgraded for like $550 for cpu, mobo, ram, graphics card, I'm sure you don't have to replace ALL your stuff
