Setup: Here is a quick pro-tip for anyone purchasing this headset. It needs it's own power supply. That's how boss this headset is, right out of the box. Keep this in mind however, because if you fail to plug it in, you will sit reading the instruction manual for a stretch of time before you finally figure out why you cant hear anything. I did this. As long as your sound card or motherboard is color coded, you will have no problem matching up the correct plugs with the correct ports.
Summary: Make sure you plug it into a power source. Labeling the plugs with their corresponding port would make this a perfect score.

Gaming: Ok. The bread and butter of the Tritton AX 51 Pro. I have to say, my situational awareness is much higher now, thanks to the top quality surround sound I am getting in game. The details range from the major (explosion distance and magnitude [TF2; DoD:S]) to the minute (decloaking spies, footsteps [TF2]). I will say, even without a soundcard, I am still picking up on these details and realizing that the headset is actually helping me to play better on a larger and more recognizable scale.
Summary: "How the hell did you hear me uncloak?!"

Audio (Non-Gaming): I do a lot of mixing and audio creation in my free time, and for that I have a pretty expensive set of studio headphones. While I wouldn't say these Tritton phones are as good or better, they are surprisingly adept at reproducing sounds I make, and for that I would say that the crossover capability that these headphones offer is pretty substantial. For just listening to music, though, they are incredible. The bass is kicking, the midrange is crystal, and the trebles sustain.
Summary: Ok, not great, but obviously designed for gaming.

Hardware: On most PC gaming headsets there is a control console built right into the cable, near to the earpieces, so you can change volume or mute your mic on the fly. This headset not only has that, but it allows you to edit the volume of each of four levels: Front, rear, center, and sub. This allows you to tweak just how you hear what you hear, making the overall ability to customize a rich experience. However, this console gets pretty warm, and it is situated on the cables at a length in which it sits right in your lap. This can get uncomfortable at times. In addition, the length of the cables in their entirety is a little too long, and I find myself running over the cable with my roll-y chair. The rubber coating on the cable is think and resistant, but I don't want to have to buy another set just because I cant seem to keep the wires off the floor. The earpieces and headband are padded and come with swappable leather fittings. I stuck with the original, because they were softer and fit better on my abnormally good looking skull.
Summary: Hot features (literally), length is unquestionable but problematic, fits well where it needs to.
