Astro BXR Red A40 Wireless System

This system is worth the $279.95. You will understand why the MLG has chosen Astro Gaming for 4 years straight. I've had these since the Wirless MixAmp™ 5.8 came out. The headset is actually capable of 7.1 surround sound (If you have a compatible sound card with 7.1 Surround Sound). The review of the A40s with the original MixAmp™ states it is only capable of only 5.1. This is true with the use of the MixAmp™ and Wireless MixAmp™ 5.8. The Wireless MixAmp™ 5.8 also carries a Dolby chip so you will receive that crisp sound you have always wanted in a headset.

i use my old USB ps2 headset.

works great. i use my regular speakers and just use the mic from the headset. i just ring the thing around my neck and angle the mic up. gets the job done.

Yes, I've seen many reviews on it giving them 9/10. They are better than Dr. Dre's Beats. You will love them, I promise xD

Save your money. If this was another forum where swearing was allowed, I'd blow a cap right now. That's how frustrated I am with these right now.

I just bought a pair of these (my first headset from TB) and I loved it to begin with. Now, after less than a month, a structurally vital piece (made of plastic, I would like to stress) just cracked in half and now the entire headset is useless unless I want a desktop microphone...which I don't.

I have been extremely careful with this headset. It has not been dropped a single time, no physical stress has been placed on it and I'm the only person that has used it so I know that for a fact. Cheap. Plastic. Parts. Break.

(Another noteworthy item: They don't extend down very far. I don't have an unusually large head or anything like that but they felt like they were sized for a child. I was never completely satisfied about that.)

Going to try to get a replacement on warranty but I don't even know if it's worth the hassle or the return shipping fees (Which, in my opinion should not be covered by the user, considering the company is at fault if it is a legitimate warranty/defective product claim).

Save your money. I've had a few cheap logitech headsets from wal-mart before and those always last me at least a year and they're half the price. I think I'll go get one of those again before I buy another Turtle Beach product.

Astro A40

I have the Astro A40 Audio System. It contains the Astro A40 headphones and the Astro MixAmp. I Chose these cause they work with everything, PC, Mac, Xbox, PS3, iPhone, iPod, iPad, etc. They have great sound quality, not the best bass, but still good enough. As the name states, they have 40mm drivers. When plugged into the MixAmp with a TOSLINK Optical cable, they provide Dobly 7.1 surround sound(virtual since there's only one driver per cup.Overall, I'd rate them as follows:

• Compatibility:10/10
• Build Quality: 9/10
• Sound Quality: 8/10
• Appearance: 9/10
• Overall:9/10

I had this one since last Christmas, and my brother got one to. His broke in half about 5 months ago and mine broke in half in the same place a few days ago. Design flaw. Although I was able to fix it with the handyman's secret weapon, duct tape, it won't last long.
But as we all know, Christmas is coming. So I want to know what would be the best headset for under $90.

Razor Lachesis is what i'm using and i find it to be an incredible sounding mic and i've had 0 problems been using it for almost 2 year's now i had to replace it once but only cause my puppy ate the coord

Anything by Sennheiser you can't go wrong. Besides a gaming headset I have the HD580 and HD600 for music and they are incredible.

Its a brand called Steelseries. They make keyboards, mice, etc. Very high quality gaming products produced in Denmark.

I have a headset of theirs which is titled the Steelseries Siberia V2 gaming headset. I got it for $88 and it is by far the nicest, may I say sexiest headset I have ever used. Look up "Steelseries Siberia V2 black and gold" and you can see what I got.

Comfort: 10/10 - lightweight, leather earcuffs
Sound Level 8/10 - controls go loud, but sometimes the set messes with other volumes
Sound Quality 9/10 - brings out mid and treble for a nice song quality, however it lacks bass a bit.
Mic Quality 10/10 - people tell me my voice sounds different (more real) and the pull out mic is not flimsy.
Features 10/10 - this was designed with comfort in mind. Self adjusting headband, light, inline micswitch and vol. control.


Overall I am in love with this headset, the company, and the price. I would recommend it and for anyone interested:
