Let me start out by saying I have a GeForce 9600 GT 512MB graphics card.

It was working perfectly earlier today. I put my computer in my car, drove it to my house (from my dorm), hooked it up, and now the picture on my monitor is all distorted/liney/discolored and I'm not sure what happened in that small hour that it was unhooked. It's not my monitor that's the problem because I can hook it to my motherboard (what I'm doing now) and it works fine (also its only 2 weeks old). I switched out the converter that my monitor plugs into that hooks it to the video card for a brand new one and it still is messing up.

Oh and I thought that I would add that the computer and graphics card arn't even a year old.

Any one have any more solutions I can attempt?

*UPDATE*: I have tried downloading and reinstalling the drivers again and that didn't work.

Well, if you can return it, you might as well. You got it from Newegg, right? lol. Anyway, I spent like months trying to troubleshoot a card. I returned it, got a new one, problem solved.

well, before you do what mrcool said, you could try opening up your tower and checking if everything is firmly in place, cause something may have snapped out of place while it was in the car! if you gently press down of everything and you hear a click, that should fix your problem!! if it doesn't, return it if u can!

I can't return it I'm fairly certain. I had the computer custom built from iBuypower. I'm not sure if the problem is something I did. The computer and it's parts are under a 3 year warranty so I guess I could try to give them a call.

Yes I have removed and reset the card. And as far as I can see, the pins are fine.

ok, my next concern would be drivers, but that wouldn't cause what you're describing, so my guess would be a faulty connecting cable! Unless it's the same cable you used to connect it on the motherboard.. If that's the case, all i can think of is a DC spike when you disconnected it from your dorm, modern GPUs have surge suppressors to deal with spikes, but nothing is perfect in this world, so that could be it.. If it is that however, there's nothing you can do about it, and you'll have to take it back to the manufacturer and see what they make of it..

It sounds like the card is dying. Something similar happened to my 8800 GTX a while ago, and I had to RMA it. Fortunately, EVGA has a lifetime warranty, so it's all good.

You should contact iBuypower for sure. That card hasn't been out for 3 years, so it's still under warranty.

Like Madpistol said EVGA has a lifetime warranty (That is if you got EVGA in your system).

Did you check if your fan is working ok? Overheating can cause artifacting
Is it sung in the motherboard? If not then some pins will be miss matching and it will obviously mess up
Call your card manufacturer
