For this reason I cannot cannot even attempt to play this game anymore unless I am a scout myself. Sure, it's fun doing it to people, but I dare you to play heavy on blackmesa and not get annoyed by the fact you get bonked every 5 seconds.

my friend show me the video, i thought it was pretty funny. XD
i miss playing TF2 now... xP (im on my dad's computer, my computer kind of had a "ctrl+alt+del" problem, no matter how much i restart, still goes back to same spot)

Bah it will be back to normal after every team stops having five scouts and you only have an occasional scout with the sandman. Then it will just be an annoyance.

Indeed. It annoys me how many people have jumped the gun and declared the Heavy nerfed. We go through this EVERY time an update of any kind comes out. Give it time and it will be alright.

EDIT: Then again, After watching this video again and really, really looking close at the tactics, I see that the scout does have a huge advantage when it comes to aiming that ball over other classes weapons. I may need to rethink my stance...

Amen to that video. I have lower my time on playing due to so many scouts in defense/offense games.

You obviously underestimate the sverity of the situation. On 2-way maps, you used to have a minimum of 1 scout per team normally. On offense/defense maps, there was at least one on offense.

With an upgrade like the sandman, along with the other more balanced unlockables, the base amount of scouts is only going to increase. Meaning likely 2 per team minimum on a 3/4 full server, then possably more. And I have had several occasions now of ONE scout using sandman on me, then bringing me to my knees as I stare in stars in third-person, in many differnet class matchups. Heavies can survive only barely, thats if the scout is below average, or there is no other fire around, wich is almost always the case. Soldiers have it worse if they cant kill the scout immediatly, any class below that is dog meat.

Places like the vents in blackmesa, made to deter against the less combat-oriented classes like the scout have now become a target range. You can't dodge a ball very well in close quarters, meaning you are going to get a stomach full of lead before you can even start to fight back.

Don't even get me started on what it does to ubers if you stun the medic, I'm frustrated enough over the subject.

I'm not touching TF2 until a patch comes out or I find a server with a maximum of 2 scouts, no more.

You make a good argument but with one major flaw, we have yet to see the scout levels normally with this update, wait a few weeks. Sure I can not predict how it will be either but think about this, even if it is true that you suspect 2 scouts on a team, not all of them will be using the sandman, it takes away double jump after which really is a big drawback. Just remember the blutsaugher and ubersaw, at least these are choices you have to think about rather than plain upgrades.

Not all scouts will have the sandman equipped or even unlocked, and even then there is no guarantee they will be skilled with the sandman and know how to use it, there are way too many variables to say that this one little upgrade makes heavy obsolete, I can attest to the exact opposite, I only died occasionally as heavy on warpath when there were five enemies with the sandman shooting it at me!

Sure you may say that the scout now becomes overpowered in the vents in blackmesa that were designed to limit the scout's abilities, but the sandman changes the class completely when it is equipped, now he is much less effective around point A where he cant double jump! Just try not using the vents as much, because these so called skilled scouts sticking only to the vents are only going to annoy you until people stop using the vents and they leave, everything is fluid in this game, stop using it and they will stop camping, at which point you can use it again, no difference between a scout camping with sandman and a demoman stickycamping the vents.

The scout has just become an actual threat, not just a cruddy class that everyone ignores until they grab the intel by some miracle.

I'm just laughing about the SimCity disaster warning at the end. That brought back memories..

Ahh... wonderful memories of destroying cities with godzilla and tornados...

They could add slightly more arc on the baseball trajectory and it would help the vent problem--the ball hitting the ceiling. I just want my Natascha slowing powers to work again... I was really looking forward to blasting some scouts with it.

I think that these videos are showing the best side of what a scout can be, it is just like a Pyro video where the player know and is really good at the air blast. The Pyro has just about the same effect to a heavy.

Scouts were kind of one of those iffy classes anyway. You get enough people who are medium to very good at playing scout you should win a match. I was playing on 2Fort once where we had 8 scouts and no engies. I know this because i meantioned that I thought it was impossible to win 2Fort without an Engie. After an unrelenting scout rush we did win. Anytime someone picked up the Intel on our side there would be three scouts right on top of them. If you get enough scouts running past a sentry it gets easy.

So I think you are just realising the potention of the scout because everyone is playing them. But as soon as it goes back to normal (normally 1 to 2 scouts), it will be just like normal.

If you want to complain about scouts who know how to use the sandman, complain about pyros who know how to use the compression blast.

how does valve not test any of this, the update is not only unbalanced but it introduced a whole new set of bugs.

I dunno what you guys are talking about, I've been destroying Scouts as a Sasha-wielding Heavy on 2Fort, Sandman or no. As long as you've got a team helping you out, even just a Ubersaw-happy Medic willing to back you up with attacks if you're occupied, the Scout has no recourse.

EDIT: Also, for those complaining about Black Mesa or Toy Fort now being terrible for Heavies, what did you expect? They are maps with very small chokepoints, nor are they "official" maps. Valve wouldn't test on them.
