I own 6 shamWoW's and they work fine.

Think about this:

Vince has a cut-out piece of carpet on a hard surface. He pours cola on the carpet, and of course, it soaks down into the carpet.

You go home, spill some cola on the REAL carpet inside your house, with no hard surface underneath. The liquid soaks down into the carpet and below. Since below the carpet in your house is not a hard surface, and probably wood, a material that easily soaks up the liquid, it's not all going to come out. (I tested this BTW)

You can do the exact same thing Vince did here with a cutout. The only difference is, the water has nowhere to go on that flat surface, so it's easily sucked up.

I noticed that when I first saw the commercial. Still bought them anyways. They work great for soaking up the dogs water that doesn't get in their mouths.
