What is your favorite war movie?

Well, I think the very top of my list would have to be Band of Brothers.

Other ones that rank up there, Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, Gladiator (not completely technically a war movie), Kingdom of Heaven (Directors Cut). Master and Commander. Braveheart.

I like the historical epics and a lot of the WWII stuff... cant wait for The Pacific.

Behind Enemy Lines, Black Hawk Down, The Rock (not really war movie) but all these movies would pump me up to go paintballing

The ones already listed off are really good movies. I'd add The Lost Battalion, its the only good movie I know of for World War I.

wha? what about Sgt. York, All quiet on the western front, paths of glory, pashendale(sp?), :confused1:

Band of Brothers! some of the classics are good too, The longest day as mr. fairweather mentioned and for some reason even though not having the best special effects but because its an autobiographical account of the US most decorated veteran from humble origins....To Hell and Back, the story of Audie L. Murphy! FTW by the age of 19!:w00t:

Well, I noticed a few good ones were missed :)

The Great Escape - We watched this with my sons and the next day they were out in the back digging tunnels ;)

And for US Civil War films, Gods and Generals and Gettysburg. Both very well done.

Full Metal Jacket, The Longest Day, A Bridge Too Far, Enemy at the Gates.

I would say Favorite war movie of all time! Saving Private Ryan and even more than that would be Band of Brothers but that is a series.

im going to have to go with:
Saving Private Ryan
We Were Soldiers
Braveheart
Band of Brothers

war movies are my favoritesss.

Hmmmm.... no one mentioned Glory, A Bridge Too far, or The Story of GI Joe.. Three of the best war movies of all time.

And kudos to whoever said the Lost Battalion, great film.

Tae Guk Gi is my favorite war film of all time.
Has good action and great plot.
Basically about the Korean War and the lives of 2 brothers who get separated.
The movie is in Korean, but it has english subtitles which helped me watch it too :)
I highly recommend this movie, it is simply great.

PS: I'm not korean, or closely related so don't think its a foreign language film. It has subs.
