Current setup
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+
2.60 GHz
1.75GB of RAM
19" monitor (1440 x 900)
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT (256MB)

I've been wanting to start using fraps (or some other video-recorder-thing that will record TF2 videos. I tried running fraps and it gets really choppy and my FPS is pretty crappy. Should I upgrade my graphics card or my processor and memory (or both)?

My budget is $200-300.

Thanks!

I'd say both, but if you're really in a pinch for money, go for more ram.

Also, have you tried using the ingame video recording?

I would go for 4GB RAM and a new graphics card. You could probably get a 4850 and 4GB PC6400 for under $200 with some smart shopping, and with that you'd have a better set up than me, (I run a 4200+ and a 4830) and I can run TF2 in all maxed setting with no AA in 1600x1050.
I wouldn't worry about your processor. It's more than up to the job for TF2 and FRAPs. You could probably pretty easily squeeze some extra speed from it with no real effort. I bumped my 4200 from 2.2 to 2.4 with no loss of stability or heat issues on the stock cooling.
