Most people will click "Accept" on any friend invites that come their way, so you can just try adding people you have fun playing online with and see if they'll accept. There are actually a few achievements in TF2 involving playing in a game with Steam Friends, so it can be handy to have a friends list full of people you play with regularly. Feel free to add me if you see me on, I play on our Payload Rotation server late nights and on the weekends.

I'm a nice guy and I'll add you. What I usually do is i send invites to people who i had fun playing with in-game. People that I teamed up with and such. Usually they're eGO members but its worked for non-members too.

Trust me, friends are not difficult to make in a gaming community. In-game, press alt+tab (stop me if you already know how to do this), press the "add friend" button on the bottom of the friends box, click "view list of users recently played with," select the person you wish to have as a friend and click add. Simple and effective.

Actually it's Shift+Tab for steam overlay. Alt+Tab will switch the program you're running. I know it was probably a typo but figured I would say something.

That boots me out of L4D but I think that's my autoexec that programs that...

In the end though, I agree with most of the posts here... add people you think are fun people to play with right after the game ends. When you click Add Friend, you can look at a list of people who you've played with recently.

I don't get a whole lot of invites either so don't worry its not hard it just takes time i think
