really, for right now. i think the quality of the PII (Phenom II) is amazing for the price. i mean, i know Ryken said you dont need a quad core. This could go both ways right now. Yes and No. Ill explain here haha
Yes, why you could need a quad core -
1) If you multitask alot. or use programs that are really need to use quad core, as in Auto Cad, anything that renders stuff, or just stuff along those lines.
2) Yes, it will future proof you, as long as it survives to the future. Sometimes things just dont last based on how much you OC and how much stress is on it.
No, why you wouldnt need a quad core now -
1) The fastest processors right now are currently high end dual cores (ex. Intel e8400, e8500, and e8600), only because they can overclock amazingly (depending on what you get) and nothing really currently takes full advantage of the quad core.
2) Price. yes, dual cores will be cheaper (depending on what you want to get i suppose...)
And yes, these are just some quick things, not getting into anything too specific.
So all in all to summarize this really super long post no one will probably ever read because they will look at it and be like, "I ain't reading that" but anyways. If it fits into your budget go to with the PII, i would do it in a heartbeat. Or wait and be like my buddy, buy everything else right now, and when you have the money to buy your mobo, and processor then you can buy it last so then you dont have to make any decisions based upon what is out there, and then have something else come out.
