Sure, that could happen. Most contests do have a popularity factor involved, but since it's all for fun, it really doesn't matter.

It might all be for fun, but I think people have put out the best work and are really good deserve to be rewarded for the time they spent on their work. That might just be me.

As for me, I am not artistic at all. not in the "Traditional Art" definition. I know its very unlikely that i will ever win one of these things, but i enter because it gives me a reason and purpose to exercise my art-bone.
