spray image not working for tf2

The spray image i currently have for tf2 is fine but id rather it be something newer . but the problem is i dont think tf2 even tried to upload it . i go into options and then i go to the place were the image is and i click the image and then the sceen just fades away and goes back to the options screen. and it only happens with team fortress 2 . and it didnt used to do that until now .

Give me the image, it needs to be converted to a .vtf file. I'm not sure if i ever do it correctly, but why not try it now?

it is a vtf. but it still wont work . it is as if the if the game doesnt want to work for me . but ill post it here in case any 1 can help me .

If it's already .vtf i can't really help. I think theres something about a .vmt though too.

it was already vtf but it just doesnt work for some reason . should it say a .vtf image . mine say the file type is valve teaxtue file . but the .vmt files dont appear on the screen to change the image
