Recommendation for a graphics card

According to my brother, he says my GTS 8800 is outdated and i should get a new one.

Anyone know a good graphics card that i can get and that isnt too expensive either? Max limit is gonna be $200

are you having problems playing games? Personally, I'd stick with the 8800 GTS until it can't handle what you are throwing at it.

It works every game so far that i have fine (TF2, L4D, CSS, DOD, COD4, Insurg)

But when i played COD WAW, it had problems loading and adjusting.

I'm like heading into college next year, and i wanna increase the graphics on my computer, but ty for your suggestion everyone

I own a 9800 GTX, I picked it up on NewEgg for $150. It does everything I want it to, It will play Crysis. By play, I mean it will run the game so I can play it. I really don't care about the pretty graphics, as long as I can just play the game.

128-bit Video Cards don't cut it anymore. They bottle neck on resource demanding games. You'll need one that's at least 256-bit to run games as advanced as CoD: WaW.

The one that Fuzion posted is a very good card, but if you're more of a nVidia person then I suggest this...

Personally, if I was into nVidia, I'd go for the GTX 260. You'll need at least a 500W PSU with at least 36 amps running through your +12v rail.

hmm... an 8800GTS is a pretty powerful gpu. I would just stick with that for a while. It is almost not worth upgrading yet.

cause they renamed the 8800s to the 9800s which is now known as the 240 series.

ya theres basically no difference between 8800 and 9800...and for 200 bucks it isn't worth upgrading, you won't gain much performance, if any, with any card you can get for 200 bucks.

i beg to differ the ATI 4870 would blow the 8800 and 9800 out of the water and for only 200ish or less (im and amd/ati user) BUT it all comes down to what you like ati or nvida but your best choices are a 260 or 4870
