Empire Total War Computer Crash

Ok, so I hope someone can help me. Ive already looked around steam forums and on the game developer's website... No answers from anyone.

What is happening is this: Ill open up Empire Total war and begin playing. I can play for about 10 minutes and then my computer just turns off all together. Ive updated all of my drivers for my video card, mobo, BIOS, and none of this has helped. Ive turned down all the settings to low and turned off all graphical filtering options. The developer's website said something about Nvidia gpu issues and gave an alternative. This did not work, and now Im lost...

Hope someone can help, because this game looks pretty sweet!

Forgot to add my computer specs:
Intel Centrino Duo 1.8 ghz processor
3 gb corsair ram for gaming ( dont remember exact model, it came with the notebook)
nvidia 8800gts
I have a cooling mat and the laptop is well ventilated
250gb hd

make sure to verify your game cache. they recently came out with an update fixing a memory-related crash issue. make sure you have dl'ed and installed it.

could just be a problem with the game not liking your setup. but more likely an overheating issue. is there any way for you to log temperatures so you know at what temps you are crashing at? if it crashes at a constant temp, check your temperatures.

also, if its just empire, then its probably an issue with the game. Also, try playing at different resolutions or graphics settings.

The problem with everything you just told me is that Ive tried all of that. My computer constantly runs at 48-51c with or without the game. I verified the game cache after the 2nd time it crashed on me. I think Ive tried every combo of resolution and settings. 800x600 winowed 1440x900 with everything set on high...I dont know what else I could possibly do.

Honestly, the problem is just the game....

Its an awesome game, but even now, 3 (small) patches into it, its still EXTREMELY buggy. I'm sure they are working on more patches, but this game may just not be coded well unfortunately. If it is completely unplayable, I would just wait and hope they patch it up otherwise im not really sure there is much else you can do.

I've been lurking around the ETW steam forums everyday. A lot of people have the CTD and Whitescreen crashes. They have been releasing patches for sound fixes that are supposedly causing the crashes. 3 updates are out after a month and its still not right. From what i understand it only crashes on certain system configurations. Best bet is to wait it out at this point :/ sorry herm.

Im not sure if its directly related to any sort of laptop configurations. I run a desktop and my game crashes all the time.... no computer resets, but lots of crashes.

However, I have also been getting the BSOD in windows, so im hoping my hardware isnt bad too or my windows configuration is screwed up....

Either way, ETW is the only game I get any crashes on, everything else works fine... so yea, I think the best thing is just to wait and hope they fix all the issues.
