Have you tried reinstalling the software? If you dont have the disc, you can find it on the manufacturers website too.

Yeah for what ever reason, it seems like Vista does that alot because it happens to Vanilla sometimes and shes got vista too.

Or you can buy that new Sound card see if that helps if not, Send it back.

turn off your pc unpluging the sound card and putting it into a diffrent slot that should work..

if you have onboard sound its usually Realtek HD Audio, works great with vista, d/l the latest drivers.

as for as a PCI sound card..i have a SB Audigy 2 ZS and vista won't install it for some dumb reason, i can run the driver utility 800 times it doesnt work. stick with USB audio, these things tend to work on anything anywhere without drivers.

Buy a basic sound card, the difference in quality between a 30 dollar card and a 300 dollar card are unnoticeable, getting better speakers will make a huge difference though.

have you tried the latest drivers?

check and see if the computer detects a multimedia device that doesnt have drivers installed for it. you can do this is the device manager.

hmm, get a new sound card, its not worth the hassle to figure out whats wrong with it, good chance it just stopped working due to whatever, heat/age/wear.

you can buy a PCI or PCI-express sound card but i really think USB sound is the way forward
