No servers

Hey all, i was just trying out tf2 and i couldnt get ANY servers on my list! So naturally i uninstalled and reinstalled... but still nothing! I have played tf2 before and on this account but it doesnt wanna work! I have tryed to join off someone, it showed the server as being there but i couldnt connect to it. Any ideas?

When you request servers your machine sends a request to valve's master server list which then gives you a list of IP's and your computer then manually checks each IP.
It would sound like your client is being denied access to either the master server list, or the individual server's themselves.
The most common reason for this would be a firewall (most likely software firewall) so check your windows firewall and make sure HL2.exe is allowed access, (I believe TF2 uses that, I know DOD:S does)
Also check any other firewalls you may have installed (zonealarm, AVG, Norton etc)
If the problem still persists then look towards your router and see if there may be something blocking access there.

I know its not half life 2 engine because i can play every other game with that engine and have normal results, a ton of servers... except for tf2 no servers at all still, i tried going manual and that still didnt work it tryed to connect and "failed after 4 retries"

This is not a game problem, its modem/router.

Are you sure its a modem/router? I can play every other steam game i have except for this one.

Hey bloody make sure all your firewalls and protection software are off then try agian. If that still doesnt work try pluging your comp straight into your modem instead the router. This will helps us figured what is cuasing this problem. I am going to guess its some kindof protection software. if so you should be able to just add HL2.exe to the acception list. If the router we will just have to get the default port and open it on your router. Either way its a fairly easy fix. Also do any error messages pop up when you try to load the servers.

Bumping, I just checked again today and still no servers, i know its not the modem/router because i can access all other hl2 games i have. I dont know what the problem is D=
