What do you think of the achievement packs? I want your oppinions in this thread!
Overall I think Valve did a good job with all content updates. However, some are better than others...

The Gold Rush Update:
Achievements:
Overall, the achievements themselves are great. They are funny and fun to achieve. However, most people say these achievements are too difficult to unlock. Personally, I think that's fine. Afterall, they are called "achievements" for a reason.
Unlockables:
Valve did not do a good job with the medic's unlockables. Two out of three weapons are no brainers. Only the Kritzkrieg is a balanced, yet very situational, addition while the ?bersaw and the Blutsauger are better than their counterparts.
Maps and Gamemodes:
Both, the payload gamemode and Gold Rush have been a huge success. The payload mode is a great addition, and a clever one, too. It's TF2's hunted mode without all the griefing!

The Pyro Update:
Achievements:
Nice achievements! While most of them are easy to unlock, they're still fun to get. I don't like the idea of having achievements where you already need unlockables for, but that's just me. People like these achievements more than the medic's, ergo it's been a better implementation of the achievement system.
Unlockables:
The pyro's new toys are way better additions than the medic weapons. While the Backburner was overpowered when it still had an extra 50 HP bonus, I don't think that taking it all away was a good decisions. The Airblast is now, argueably, a better choice than back crits. The Flare gun is fine. It's not underpowered, and it's no no brainer. Sadly, the melee weapon is yet again an upgrade.
Maps and Gamemodes:
Valve put two nice community maps into this pack: Fastlane and Turbine. Both are good maps, I enjoy playing them. However, I did miss a valve made map in this pack.

A Heavy Update:
Achievements:
Great achievements! They're neither too easy to get nor too difficult to unlock. While there are some achievements that are grindfests (Get 1000 assists and things like this) they're much fun to unlock. Very nice job here, Valve.
Unlockables:
In my oppinion, the best unlockables of them all. No underpowered weapons, and no upgrades either. Natascha isn't overpowered, yet annoyingly good. The sandvich was a good addition but there are still moments where a shotgun would have helped and there are people who hate the sandvich and stick to their shotgun. The KGB are overall deadlier, but in my eyes no upgrade since the taunt kill of the fists is great. It's the fastest taunt kill of the three and also has the furthest range. Hands down, the best unlockables!
Maps and Gamemodes:
Wow, another big plus of the heavy update. Community map Steel, Badwater Basin AND the arena mode. Steel is a good community map choice, Badwater is a great map and arena is a fun mode. Sure, not many people play it anymore but it's still fun to me and there are some great custom arena maps out there.

The Scout Update:
Achievements:
Easily the best achievements made. All achievements are related to Baseball, are fun to get, and definetly not too easy/hard to get. These even beat the heavy's!
Unlockables:
I don't think the scout unlockables are a good addition, I still use the old set up. The Force-A-Nature is a great gun, and can be pretty annoying. The only weapon I want to use sometimes. The drink is plain boring. I just don't like it. Also, the sandvich was already more than enough. We don't need more lunch in TF2. Then there is the sandman... The most hated weapon. It's so hated, it's banned in leagues and on some pub servers. It takes away the Scout's most awesome ability, the double jump, and gives him a crappy stun. We don't need or even want crowd control in an FPS. What's next, rooting abilities?
Maps and Gamemodes:
An unbalanced arena map, a cp map that was desgined for 6v6/9v9 and a decent egypt themed map. The worst maps, if you ask me. Egypt is the only map worth playing.

So, in my oppinion, the Heavy's pack was the best. I had a much more pleasant experience with this update than any other. We'll see if the sniper update is going to change my mind...
What do you think?

-Calle

I use no unlockables when playing Pyro or Scout, so I'd say Heavy or Medic is the 'awesomest' updates. I think the Heavy update is a bit heavier (:D) then the Medic one, since Badwater & Steel, really great maps, was included and not to mention, Arena Mode! But then again Payload & Goldrush was in the Medic update, dilemma, dilemma.

Personally, I dont really like the idea of having to unlock the weapons and yet love the idea of having achievements. I got all the unlockables at achievement servers and had my weapons locked for a while, I dont really play those 3 classes much besides pyro, so there would be no way to get those weapons other than achievement servers. They should set something else up for the achievements...like for haveing completed so many achievements you get this medal or have this rank or something else besides using them to unlock the weapons. You can be sure that there will always be people on achievement servers because of those achievements, but I will no longer participate in that. Other than that, Love the pyro axe that they came up with along with the air burst, favorite out of all the new weapons.

I have some fond memories of the Goldrush Update: the "achivements_unlock_all" command, then realizing your weapons had been removed, fearing a VAC ban; everyone working together to farm the achivements - and what an accomplishment; infinite uber glitch (only done on mario kart); chain medics; the new game mode and map.
It was huge and I loved it.

Goldrush/Medic.

I was using the free trial, but bought it before my trial expired. I love the weapons, and the achievements. And Goldrush is still probably my favorite map. I never played anything but Goldrush for about 2 months before sticking my head out into other maps. I still love PL, probably as much or more than CP. Good times, good times.

Goldrush was amazing, payload is amazing, medics are amazing, arena is amazing, and scouts are amazing.

I'm gonna tell my opinion point by point, I will only leave maps untouched as I don't really care for them.

Goldrush update:

Achievements: Fun, HARD (thats a plus with capital P for me) and interesting to get. Also I loved that for the ubersaw, the last unlockable, you needed to get all new achievements.

Unlocks: not really an alternative, the ubersaw and blutsauger, but still quite good, I love them both. Krietzkrieg? people may say it is bad and situational but -40% charging time and the overall offensive death-to-all-unlucky effect make me use it 24/7

Pyro update:

Achievements: a lot easier and they lowered the cap for last unlock, also a lot of grinding was involved (GRRRR, pyromancer). Overall, I wasn't happy.

Unlocks: now we're talking! finally, alternatives! I switch from backburner to normal air blast from time to time, but preferring the backburner, I love the flare gun, great alternative to that dull shotty, axetinguisher? Awesomeness unbound, Instakiller weapon. Also, taunt kills introduced. Finally, a way to kill enemy team after loss.

Heavy update:

Achievements: a bit harder, less grinding, still lowered cap and absolutely epic, killer names for achievements, especially if you know Russian and USSR culture. Overall, I'm happy.

Unlocks: Natasha: wasn't an alternative for me, I use it always as it's awesome. Sandwich is good but dangerous, I use it still. KGB is very good as every 3rd strike is crit that brings out more crits on kill. also, medium-range taunt kill. Awesome.

Scout update:
Achievements: Very original, very easy, not much grinding, interesting to get. I am pleased (not about easiness though).

Unlocks: FaN - love it, use it, it doles out more damage and knockback is awesome. Energy drink: hate it, scout is almost helpless in combat without pistol with FaN. Sandamn: awesome, very useful in any situation. Taunt kill - TOO LOOOOOOOOOOONG.

Also, I want to say that I have all achievements and never grinded even one of them:

I agree with a lot of this!
Medic: I love the new weapons, the achievements were fun! nice way to start it off!
Pyro: don't play pyro much but I think that the backburner is awesome. Wish they had kept like 25 hp. axtinguisher is great fun, good update.
Heavy: another class that I don't play much, but I thought I'd try it out. I don't like natascha but the other weapons are awesome! good achievements, still working on kolectivization, or whatever it's named.
Scout: Valve screwed us over with this one. this update was nothing like the others. The Sandman is a horrible creation that deserves to be called hax. BONK! is a stupid concept made worse by not being able to use your weapons. the Force-a-nature is annoying if you're against it but isn't actually THAT bad.
I've given up on playing the scout at all and I refuse to use the sandman unless it's for an event.

you agree with me or Calle?

I enjoyed TF2 more when it was just the medic pack,
although I am not that happy with the compression blast (since I am usually a demoman) the heavy update is fine too, the medic is a great update in my opinion.

Te best is making the criticals more skill based, that is really the best in my eyes, this is where the skilled players have a lot more chance of avoiding those lucky critical hits.

But the scout update is really terrible....sandman is really messing this game up, not a lot of scouts are present nowadays but come on, to stop ubers is just way too powerful. Also you can just bonk a guy and he stays like that for 10 sec....just too easy if you ask me.

Also the spy update was a terrible one, giving easy facestabs and seeing names of the enemy players really annoys me so people can select targets, what usually works in my disadvantage.

i love the scout, pyro, and the gold rush update the maps of gold rush are really fun but so are the classes these are some of my favorite classes.

The Goldrush update? Are you serious? Why not call it the medic update? /me slightly offended. (actually greatly offended.)

j/k....but seriously.

I loved the medic update, best one so far. It maybe that I'm biased towards the medic, but I don't think so.

Perhaps you meant farm? Oh well, best update in my opinion was the pyro, so hilarious to take out entire teams of them with a single sentry gun, plus the new toys were all well thought out (+50 health gone :( )

i agree with hating the sandman, it's REALLY annoying. Just the thought of being able to take a player's control away from the game disgusts me. IMO the ball should have just greatly slowed down the person, make them really dizzy, and make it take a lot longer to turn around for a period of time. However i think they still should have had the ability to shoot
