Simpsons vs. Futurama

This has gotten into such a heated debate..cartoons that werent even apart of this thread somehow made there way in. I cant help but put my 2 cents in on the whole south park thing...Watch the Manbearpig episode you'll die of laughter.

Oh and it appears Futurama has pulled ahead

I will respectfully say that South Park is a very intelligent show. It's satire is actually brilliant as it subtly pokes fun at things we take very seriously.

hmmmm.....how long has the simpsons been on tv and in syndication and a major motion picture?

20 Years. Longer than any other animated Sitcom.

Futurama was and is the best animated show in the comedy genre.

Strong statement there, buddy....:X Which I believe would be open for debate if another thread similar like this one is made, but mainly about which has been the best animated sitcom. :]

Its not about which show is "fresher" or which show "used to be good" its about the entirety of the show and its series, there IS a reason futurama was canceled and why the simpsons is a cultural icon.

BY THE WAY, THIS THREAD WAS CLEARLY ABOUT THE SIMPSONS AND FUTURAMA. Stop bringing South Park/Family Guy/American Dad back in the subject people and either discuss it via PM or make a thread for such shows.

Now on to the topic at hand. Even though I have been watching simpsons since I was a kid, I have to say I enjoyed and STILL enjoy Futurama. I don't care if got canceled, Bender and Zoidberg are probably one of my favorite animated sitcom characters ever and I loved the show in all its of its glory. I still see watch the re-runs over and over again.

As for the Simpsons, I love some of the series characters to death (Homer, Apu, Moe, Comic Book Guy, Kang & Kodos) and the Halloween specials were just awesome. I watch some of the new episodes from time to time and watch Old episodes whenever they are shown and loved the movie when it came out. Yes, I agree that some recent episodes have gone downhill. But you can't judge an entire SEASON because 2 or 3 episodes in suck. Let's not forget the fact that The Simpsons ARE STILL the Simpsons and will always be remembered for being THE SIMPSONS.

In conclusion, as a personal choice I pick Futurama > The Simpsons. :3

(bringing family guy back into this for example only, FamilyGuy was cancelled twice in the 1st three seasons. Hence, number of Seasons and longevity of a show doesnt = how funny it is)

Simpsons lacks anything related to humor and Futurama is damn near the top of funniest cartoons ever.

oooook i didn't read every post, but ya
simpsons have gone down hill over the past few years the but its had 10 years at least of GREATNESS
let me just share with you 2 of my favourite lines in the show (yes favourite with a U, im canadian).

Setup: Homer stayed up all night eating slices of cheese
Marge "Homer did you stay up all night eating cheese?"
Homer "I think im blind..."

Setup: Homer just went into the dog house and got attacked by a badger, he pulls his shirt up to reveal his stomach completely open, showing all his organs.
Lisa "I think we should call the humane society"
Homer "Ya and while we're at it we should call a doctor about this" *pulls his shirt up*
Lisa "How did the badger do that without ripping your shirt?"
Homer "What am i, a tailor?"

Come on...need i say more?? And for all of those in doubt, go watch the lemon tree episode...pure freakin classic. Great humour (Yes again with a U)
