Warpathians - Fight or Die

I grew up from a little newbie to a regular player of TF2 on Warpath. No Sudden Death? That's like... That's like taking someone's child, cloning it, and giving them back the clone. It's not the same. It's never the same.

Though in all truth, my buddies who regular Warpath have started to go astray as of the lack of SD. They're all complaining about it, and to be honest, I blame some of the late Warpath's lack of popularity on it too.

I know that a lot of people here are complaining about the lack of sudden death, however what you have to realize is that the leadership didn't just get rid of sudden death because they felt like it. I specifically remember several months ago when I was still in this division an incredibly large amount of people complaining about the sudden death of warpath. It is always a hot topic concerning this map, and not everyone will be happy. When sudden death is on, everyone who wants a stalemate finally starts to speak up. When sudden death is gone, everyone who likes suddenly realizes they were serious and starts to complain.

I will also say, the map is almost completely held up by regulars. Many people who are new to warpath don't like it, I have found. It really is up the regulars to keep this up and spread the love to as many people as they can. Look at Valve Maps, that server used to be in the 200s but it was ranked 10th last I checked. That's not because the maps got changed or features got added/removed but because Atten made that server win. Warpath could learn a lesson or two there, and I really hope you do.

LOL, no one ever liked stalemates, everyone just could not agree on a form of SD. The last way we had SD was the best with no melee, all fighting for the right to win and it seemed like the most people enjoyed that. LET ME REPEAT, NO ONE EVER LIKED STALEMATES. All I have heard after every round from every player is when is SD gonna be back? I have to just laugh at all this, playing Warpath for as long as I have. No offense meant pet rock, I just want to set the record straight as there have been a lot of non-regulars on warpath running their mouth and it has offended us greatly.

Atten has done a great job with Valve maps and I've actually started to realize it is pretty fun along with PL. Those servers, esp. Valve play more smoothly for me and with most of the warpath regulars not playing here anymore, the 'spam' has actually become just 'spam'. I say it's probably about time to just change the map if the lag is to remain and SD won't come back, leadership wants warpath to die. Just let us have our closure and move the server to db_heights or something else that is fun.

agree, I think the normal SD was just a little to long I say 2 minutes doesn't encourage turtling because you aren't waiting for 5 minutes

I'm sorry you feel so strongly, but I like stalemates. Sure, sudden deaths allow you to find out who the winner is but that's just the main problem that I see with warpath. The only way a team will actually lose inside the allotted time is if they get completely steam rolled or because that spy was sitting there waiting for that second point to be captured. And the sudden death that I remember emptied the server of all the non-regulars because they (like me) did not want to just sit there watching an engi sit in a corner with his back to the wall turtling a sentry gun. Sure a different sudden death would be better, but I haven't played those and I don't know how those would work out in practice. All I know is that compared to the sudden death that I remember, I much prefer to have stalemates.

I'm sorry but i couldnt disagree more with everything stated. There have been PLENTY of time i have seen a warpath match end in regulation, and more times than not i have seen the server clear after a stalemate then after a hard fought sudden death battle.

In my opinion the inability to scramble teams along with the lack of sudden death is what has really hurt warpath. No one likes getting rolled so people leave when the teams arent balanced and very few people like not having a winner after a long battle. I think warpath is a very unique server, especially the regulars that play there, and someway to figure out the rules there in a form of voting would be very beneficial to the servers health.

I think it should be put to a poll, to end this debate once and for all.

going to have to agree with josey and westside. though it may not happen with regularity, matches do end with a victor during regulation play on occasion (without streamrolling). i have never heard anyone genuinely pleased with a stalemate (even after sd) unless they were simply glad to have survived and/or not lost. i really hope i don't get back from vacation to find warpath gone; funny how much can happen in two weeks. perhaps i'll have to familiarize myself with some other maps, which wouldn't be a bad thing.

Fine, everyone can disagree with me. But that is what I have seen. It seems no one is happy with any way the map ends. Looks like it should just be turned into the same thing as 2fort instant and make it so the map never ends. That'll at least remove the problem of SD and stalemate. I hope you guys can find a way that will at least keep the server alive and running, because it can be a fun map.

What does "Increase it's rank" mean, anyways? It's rather poorly defined. Warpath is easily outperforming Mesa, at 117'th place. It's higher than it was before. Thus, how much further does it need to go?

I sure hope this server stays online. Finding it is the only reason I found eGO, and it's why I stay, and why I donate. There was a while in February/March where I almost left, when the lag was bad, but now that it's gotten better, I plan on hanging around.

Just a heads up that Sudden Death has been re-activated on Warpath.

Thanks for putting it back on. I'll be on later after work to tear it up. :P

I just played a looong time and my team was trying to push the last point for like 15 minutes, but we never succeeded. Then the sudden death came, and we won! :)

Warpath's a great map!
