Whats wrong with strand?

I play in ego's strand server almost everyday on my custom built pc. Today i went on and the server was almost full(30 or so people). my comp froze for the first time ever. I rebooted and went back in but there was only 16 people in the server wich tells me i wasnt the only one to have a problem. then my comp froze again and would'nt reboot. I started it in advanced options(F8) and had to fix some problems before it would reboot. then i went back on dods and there is only 2 people in strand wich is unheard of at this time of day. Did the server mess up my comp? everthing is pointing to the server as being the cause of my freeze followed by inability to reboot. like i saide my comp's a very fast home built machine that has not frozen since i built it a year ago. this accompanied by the server emptying and staying empty is troubling. Im affraide to go back to strand.

Well I have heard of some peeps hacking some of my friends on steam So maybe they are starting to get into our servers, who knows. I heard something to do with admin and maps, lets be cautious about this and be prepared for anything so no one's computer gets ruined.

Maybe a clean sweep protection is at hand.

wow, i played donner a lot of the day after fixing my comp and then i see that theres 9 players in strand so I joined and what do you know? same problem happenes! no more strand for me and now im thinking i might need to reformat. to be honest im concerned about playing on any ego server now.

I would not be concerned. I am not sure what the problem is, but going off the player number is not a strong indication of a problem. Games do not at will just shut down PCs. There must be some underlying cause.

I would also add that Kendle runs a clean ship, and his servers are top notch. If there was an issue of security he would know about it.

I would give it another try, and be more observant. I will try it myself now and see what happens.

It's more likely an issue with with something on the map rather than anything to do with hackers or anything on the server itself.

I've been playing quite a bit there and haven't had any problems...
I'd suggest maybe renaming the custom map file that gets downloaded the first time you connect to the server, and allowing it to download again.
Those can be found at C:\program files\steam\steamapps\<steamnamehere>\day of defeat source\dod\maps

I'd suggest simply renaming those files and reconnecting to the server as a start in the troubleshooting.

On the other hand, i have noticed that the map has been emptying quite quickly from max players over the past 2 days... might be worth looking into?

Why would you be afraid of other eGO server?
It obviously only has to do with strand and nothing more...

im sure its the server and not user related. eGo sarg was in and observed the immediate decline in players, followed by 2 hours of no players. To go from 30 players to 2 in a matter of minuets in the middle of the afternoon corresponding with the first freeze and crash of my computer, meens somethings wrong. I have played that server for over a year on a regular basis and havent had any problems except the id ticket error. since no one seems to have an idea whats wrong, ill just get over it. thanks for your impute.

I used to have that problem with strand for a long time, deleted the local map and redownloaded new one from server problem went away, I know how it feels I thought it was a huge issue with server because I played for months with no problems then all of a sudden every time crash.

try delete the current map and redownload from server

if it does happen ur map files are usually corrupted for some ungodly reason. just listen to rawrrr and delete it and redownload it when u join DOD:S server of ours it should work perfectly fine then

Gotta be logs of errors that are causing users to DC - maybe server admin's can check it out
