4/29/09 Update *Kinda*

Not sure if I like this or not, but it's good to hear a little bit of what their planning on doing.

I'm so sick of hearing all the speculation around this update. It's nice to see Robin come and give us some facts. As far as I'm concerned: Don't moan and complain about something you know very little about and haven't yet experienced. Valve has given us a great game so far, have a little faith and try out what they're thinking; worst case scenario, everyone hates it, and then they very much would change it back, like Robin says in the interview. Wait and see, folks, wait and see....

Hmmmm....so it'll be mostly cosmetic at first, eeeeh?

Weird...

But I do find it disconcerting that they are right-out saying that they are incorporating RPG elements.

I like cosmetic changes for a personalised look. Not sure about the RPGish item upgrades.

Yeah, hopefully I'm not going to end up playing Team Fable 2 in a few months. The interview sounds reasonably promising, although I don't know what the point of dressing up is.

would be nice to reveal the maniacal face of the pyro...or get a nifty Afro that stores all the hidden grenades for my Demoman...

Can anyone say Splinter Cell cosmetic for spy? i sure can baby

but honestly, if people start asking on the forums "Need someone to give a Mongoose Enchant on my KGB's" i will just migrate immediately to some other game (DOD:S a possibility)

TF2 will always be TF2 in my book. The game is always updated with fresh, new things. I think the RPG-ish feel will add a new twist to the game, and I'm sure it'll be original. Valve does a *heck* of a lot better than EA/DICE as far as content updates (*cough*BF2*cough*).

I just want the fro to the Demoman.
As long as is it only cosmetic and you don't get like:

The Jules Fro
50% chance for divine intervention.

I have my doubts, but Valve is yet to let me down so I'm just ignoring my doubts. Either way, I'll be there for the game, because it's awesome.

idk, i think they will do good.
they always do, nothing normally comes from them without being a top-of-the line game.

i'm looking forward to how they continually change the game. and that they keep important things in mind, like player silhouettes...

i have mixed feelings about decoupling achievements from weapons, in that, you were forced to learn intended game mechanics some players may not have known about in order to get the weapons. at least, that was true of me.

I like how the game keeps changing. It makes it fun, although I prolly will not use any of the new stuff.

Can someone copy pasta what's it's saying please? That site, as well as steampowered, is blocked at school for me.

I'd like to add; I don't understand why people have been complaining so much about new elements coming to tf2. So what if it has RPG elements? As long as you enjoy playing the game it doesn't matter. Tf2 is not your generic shooter.

Well, maybe some people don't like RPG elements in a FPS and would rather have a game where they know where everyone stands in terms of the equipment they have instead of worrying about if the weapon he has will be tweaked correctly enough to be able to take out a specific type of enemy.

Variety is the spice of life, but too much spice makes anything taste bad.

And the thing about listening to the players is true, Valve seems willing to change things if people complain (for better or for worse :P)
