Whenever I shoot multiple times into the water the ripple effect overlapping eachother drops my fps from 180 to around 35-40 FPS. I'm not sure if this is a game engine problem or my computer, I don't seem to drop FPS anywhere else.

If I just shoot one time, the single water splash does nothing this is only with multiple splashes like with shotguns.

I'm running the game on max everything with multicore on.

So, does anyone have this problem?

My Rig
Q6600 Quad-core 2.4ghz
8 Gigs ram
8800 GTS 512
Windows Vista 64 Bit

Drivers are all the way up to date, and have tried rolling them back to no avail.

You're complaining when you get 35-40 FPS? I get that staring at a wall with no one else in the server :/

Anyway, it could be the game just using up a lot of video memory and causing the FPS to choke.

That actually made me laugh out loud.
But cereally. I've been running multi-core support since the update came out and I noticed a really big performance increase in-game. For some reason about a week ago I've experiencing low FPS in certain parts of certain maps - the water "lag" included. Someone suggested that I turn off multicore rendering. I did, and my FPS and video performance has increased.

@ Zan; I had 4 gigs left over from my old rig and I have 8 slots so I just went ahead and put it in

@Red; Its not the fact that its 40 fps- thats fine and smooth but the fact its going from 180ish to 40 fps looks REALLY bad, its a really big slow down when trying to fight someone

@Toilet; Yeah, i turned off my multicore and so far so good -- I don't experience the slowdowns i'm guessing the multicore command still has a lot of kinks to be worked out.

MQM=really unstable.

This 'water effect' happens in DoD:S except instead of 40-35 FPS its more like 10-15.

Its probably the game using more of your video card.

There was this console command that would turn off the splash effects (it would prevent people from crashing when giblets hit the water, some had that problem). But I cant remember it right now... :(

I'm gonna try and find it for ya

In the video settings, try changing the reflection settings for water. I forget the exact name.
