I have never needed to change any of this because my game has always run flawless. Is there some real proof that changing any of this really makes a difference? I do not want to muck with any those settings without a good reason.

That's not just eGO servers. I believe all TF2 servers use a hard-coded 66 tick rate (unlike CounterStrike and other games, where tick rate can vary). You can't get more than 66 commands in a second, so setting it to 100 is just increasing your choke for no reason.rate 30000
cl_updaterate 100
cl_cmdrate 100
cl_interp 0.015
cl_interp_ratio 1
I have never found it hurts to set them to over compensate, because the servers will limit settings if they feel it's necessary. eGO servers limit cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate to ~66 iirc, and rate to 25000.
rate 25000
cl_updaterate 66
cl_cmdrate 66
cl_interp 0.033
cl_interp_ratio 2 (default)
mat_queue_mode 2 (-2 is to turn it all off)
