Sniper update info FROM VALVE!!!! (new unlockable revealed)

Maybe medium snipers would forgo it for speed but if your sniping is great enough you can kill them before they are much of a threat this might be the better choice. Shocking or non shocking I'm pretty sure this thing would alert you that a spy just back stabbed you so it will save your life many a times.Shame for spies though, one of the things I enjoy the most is killing somebody right in front of a level 3 sg when they think they are "safe".

Also does anybody notice something different about the spies pistol in the background?

ya, it has white on the side of it, and i'm pretty sure the whole thing is brown.

hmm.......

Spy update will be hard nonetheless, if u ask me. Spy, sniper, and engy in my opinion, will be hard to update. But if they can do sniper, than i know they can do the rest.

Shield looks cool. I'm betting it replaces SMG, cause u always at least have a melee, you dont necessarily need the secondary (i.e. Sandvich)

Haha, this is gonna be a weird update. Every other one has seen a rise in classes that logically counter the updated class. This one, however, maybe not so much. For one, the logical counter to Sniper is more Sniper, and people will be hesitant to go around stabbing them if they're going to have an automatic defense against it.

I suppose it depends on the unlock order. If the shield takes 22 achievements to get, then I'll probably be wrong. :P

I'm pretty sure they mentioned that these new weapons will be decoupled from achievements.

This shield is going to be awesome for stopping those spies who decide to stab me even though I am purposely standing in the range of a friendly level 3 sentry gun that will kill you if you uncloak for a second.

I thought there was somethin' funny about it too. Every time something's in the background during the updates, you've REALLY gotta watch for teasers. After all, the early Pipeline map was seen in the background of the Bonk! Energy Drink page.

(If you want to see for yourself, the Scout Update pages are still up on their site.)

The whole Valve hint watching started with the Pyro's flare gun in Meet the Sniper. I love watching for things Valve hides it adds more fun and suspense to the update and future updates.

I'm wondering if the "shock" is a stun or just damage. Also, is this shield invisible? Because if it was there, it would kinda be pointless for any spy to try and give him the backstab. Now, if it was invisible (somehow), that would be cool.

"But any poor sap dumb enough to backstab you while you’re sporting one is getting a surprise to the tune of 10,000 volts. Plus, if they want to stab you again, they’ll have to wait until their knife cools down."

I'm thinking that it won't stun you if you backstab, it'll possibly damage you, wipe away your disguise and give you a cooldown on your knife. You should be able to still move...hopefully

This looks more like a extra life than anything else. A spy will just stab then cloak and the sniper will be left without a secondary, and I don't think that'll protect against a few bullets to the head. But, it seems nice way to give yourself a extra edge against spies, all in all seems pretty balanced.

This just in! It isn't really a Sniper update, but a SPY UPDATE!
...IN DISGUISE!

SPY! IN DISGUISE!

*Ba-dum* *TISH*

Okay, no.

I think that the razorback will work like this:

anyone will be able to see if the sniper is wearing it, if any spy stabs it would be somewhat like the cooldown of the plasma rifle off of halo....the spy can still move, and stabbing someone anyways gets rid of the disguise....so the spy can do everything he can normally do, but instead of getting that second stab, he'll have to wait a while, which by then he would need to escape and rethink a tactic.

Once the razorback is destroyed a sniper would have to go back and hit up a ammo crate...or it could have the recharge rate of a dispenser not being hit, or slower...no secondary weapon....just sniper and melee....

anyways, these are my thoughts.

that shield doesnt look like it will deter me at all, like ive said in the past...im dumb, i usually rush head first into the wall and if it doesnt collaps then I try it again...try try again like my momma always said...LOL. Ill just stab, get electricuted then come back for more.

if this is true and the keep the idea they hinted about the dimo in the TF2 videos(not meet the ones) then the dimo will get thing of TNT that has one big bomb with a secondary cluster exploition

That is the MIRV I belive, they made that video before they ruled out grenades most likely, it was what demomen had in team fortress.

Hmmm...

I like the huntsman, and it looks like the most important factor is the 1 second charge time. The regular rifle charges to full in what, 3 seconds? Anyway, I wonder if it zooms in at all, and if the sniper will have the same slowdown when he's charging. Curious that it has less ammo, but it'll definitely get snipers closer to the action.

Razorback? Pfff. Here's a tip for spies: 3 close range shots with the revolver is guaranteed to do more than 125 damage. Good tactic for people who haven't noticed you but you can't backstab. It's not quite as fast, but it'll be more than adequate for that lone sniper.

Ture, but the commentary node 6 of 17(first commentary map) sounds like they removed "standerd grenades" real early in game testing. Meaning that the video was used in 1999 preview(second map saids that atleast).

So how do you think the razorback will stand up against other weapons? It seems oddly specific (and worthless) if it doesn't hold up against other weapons. Hopefully it will have its own health bar or something. It would kind of suck if it just shattered on first impact from any weapon lol

I'm mixed on this one. I'll be interested to see how this works though because if it slows down the sniper too much he won't be much for chasing the spy
