I got this item last night and had mixed feelings. Here are some of my thoughts as ive only had 1 day so far playing with it.

All the positive notes:
1. Death is very believable...Ive seen everyone even veteran spies believe they have killed me and leave instantly.
2. You have half the choice of when to activate it...let me explain for those who dont have it. You can run around doing all spy stuff and die just as easy, but when you have the watch out (by pressing the cloak button once) if you get hit you cloak and can run away or position yourself to get another kill.
3. It puts fire out...yes it really does.
4. It saves you from backstabs when you have it out...not 100% about this yet, I think he got a backstab on me when it went off.(Recently found out that it does save you from backstabs, but you get 1/2 life removed.
5. if you uncloak fast your watch doesnt have to take as long to recharge and you get to use it much faster.
6. If disguised as any other class on your team and have the watch out and you get damage done to you, it shows the disguise you had instead of a spy.

All the Negative notes:
1.You cannot cloak anymore by choice, the only cloak you get is when you get hit by someone and it lasts only 8 seconds.
2. You make a loud noise once the cloak wears off (not really that noticable imo, but havnt had alot of experience with others using it.)
3. You have to be more visible to others since you cant control your cloak, which means you have to learn when to have your watch out and when you dont need it.
4. Fall damage makes the watch go off.
5. Everything still has an effect on you once the watch goes off, flame thrower will still catch you on fire, bullets will still reveal you when cloaked...ect.

Well this is all Ive got for now, the more I use it the more I will find that I like or dislike and I will post it. Hope this helps for now.

Here's something you can test for me: When you are disguised as a friendly player (I.E. A RED spy disguised as a RED demoman) and you feign death, does it show you, the spy, personally dieing, or does it drop a ragdoll of whatever class you were disguised as?

I will have to try that and get back to you.

Thank you, because if it does then spies now have a golden opportunity to use friendly disguises and get around with the Dead Ringer; you simply disguise as another one of your team, get to the front lines, and "die."

It saves you from backstabs when you have it out...not 100% about this yet, I think he got a backstab on me when it went off.

If it does save you from a backstap then it is my train of thought that it currently buged. A BACKSTAP IS A ONE KILL SHOT! I mean even an overhealed heavy can not live form that.
Yes, I do understand that snipers' unlocked sheild can not be killed with the first backstap but they don't get damaged by it eather. Also it saved someone form a driect hit with a crit rocket and I thought I saw saw someone take a fully charged sniper bullet. Also I don't play spy very often because I suck at it so I might be wrong.

If you stab someone in front of a sentry then right click real quick, will it work?

for you guys that have battle tested it, are you invincible while cloaked?
i tested it out on that achievement_idle map and whenever the spy cloaked with the dr effect he didn't take damage from the light anymore

The fact that you cant control your cloak with this watch throws me off of it. I have never found the diguises system on this game to ever really be useful. always found the only good way to get kills is to be cloaked until i am right behind the guy then uncloak and kill. Found using digiuses to get that close just ends up getting me killed. So being visiable and no being able to cloak when you want to to is too much a loss to me. Althought i did read that thought about using friendly diguises. That might actually work well with this watch. Will have to give it a try.

Sounds awesome, i'm going to be swapping around the watches depending how I feel like playing.

But mainly C&D

Let's say I hit you and you "die". I will not get the hlx message saying how many points I made, so I will know you have the dead ringer. Right?

I would presume not, but even so in most matches the game is quite chaotic, and you may not have time to check when there's an uber heavy at the front door.

Does it activate from the water in Black Mesa? Heck, can you survive Steve? i doubt it, almost nothing can survive Steve :P

Update as of 5 minutes ago:

Fixed Spy feign death not being reflected in scoreboard.

Did the Dead Ringer just get a minibuff? Do they mean that the fake deaths show up in the upper right scoreboard/kill credit scroller thinger? No idea what that's called.

it already showed up on the top right of the screen, where it shows that they killed you...what they did was now make it seem that you died if you check the score board with the tab button.

I'm not sure if I imagined this, but when I headshot spies that have the dead ringer, the icon at the top right tells me that I've headshot/killed them, yet no "crit" sound effect (or that green lettering above their head) occurred. This has happened about three times to me, and all three of those times I've looked around the area and found them still alive. Coincidence...maybe. Maybe it was just a glitch with the sound effects.

No coincidence, if they have the watch out nothing will kill then...it just does damage to them.

Posted a few more things.
