Cloak and Dagger. Read this and then try to not be paranoid.

That empty corner you just passed? It could be a spy. That seemingly secure sentry nest? Did you check on top of the sentry gun itself?

Rather than confining the spy to having to pass by ammo to keep his charge up, he's completely liberated. Spies with the normal watch must camp on top of a dispenser or near one to recharge cloak, and now they've made it so that the healing trails are visible again. Hop on top of the sentry gun itself, nobody suspects a thing. Your disguise might be known to the entire other team. The walls have eyes, and they also have mouth to tattle exactly what your weaknesses are, and they also have the claws to sever your spine. Are you paranoid yet? You should be. Cloak and Daggers have been distributed over the past three days. Nobody may have gotten one in your server, but there are over 500 servers, and any given minute, another one may be handed out. It takes about two seconds to decloak. Did you check that corner two seconds ago? What about the other corner you just passed? Any one of them could hide a spy using cloak and dagger. Missing one could mean your death. At any given moment, from any given shadow, a butterfly knife might click into position. Too bad you never checked on top of the sentry gun. Have fun waiting 20 seconds to respawn.

And have it all happen again.

*hides in an airtight sealed bunker* GOOD THING I HAVE MY SENTRY TO PROTECT ME *dies*

But they can't attack you cloaked though. And no good spy will be able to resist that for very long. Plus when I play pyro, I burn everything, I always have checked corners.

>Lights backburner< Here spy spy, come out and play ya coward, cmere you sneaky lil devil :)

That was very well put. Makes me paranoid now. :scared:

Must...play..pyro! :sneaky2:

You get very used to knowing the best spy hidding spots on most maps, isolated corners quite close to ammo and generally well concealed.

Now that spys can use the cloak and dagger, the number of hiding places are pretty much limitless. e.g. Rather stupidly, my cloak was about to run out in the middle of an open space right in front of a couple of pyros. Normally this would result in a flaming, but i was just able to stand there and they ran straight past. Sure, it's probably not the way it's intended to be used (again, me not paying attention) but if you were brave enough you could stay 'hidden' right out in the open.

My advice is play pyro and flame any thing that moves. And then anything that doesn't.
Just to be sure.

The good thing about it is that I don't have to worry about hearing that annoying Dead Ringer noise, and I know I'll have killed them. It feels like they made the spy's decloak louder now, so I'll be ready.

I must say even though CaD is the only new unlock I've gotten so far it's one of my all time favorites, it gives the spy a fun new playstyle.

The other day I was hiding in a corner with my trusty new toy, the C and D, when a player runs over to the corner to hide himself. He backs in right in front of me. I thought to myself, "Really?," de-cloaked, and BAM!...deaders. Good times.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Ha, that's the main thing that always scares me about spies - walking backwards.

Well, Dead Ringer is FAR more dangerous as it grants the spy almost absolute omnipotence, a good spy as myself just can't be killed.

Don't have the CnD myself, but I was with Zionner on turbine, and he had one.

I don't know, its not a very proactive watch. Zionner did well, but he was constantly waiting in their intel room for the perfect chance to strike. Which really wasn't often. Sometimes it worked out for him, but personally I don't know if I would have the patience.

Two good spies though... a few impromptu strategies me and Zionner fell into:

With the regular cloak, I would sneak into intel and then try to kill as many engineers as I could before I was inevitably killed by the myriad pyros, heavies, medics, etc they had camping intel. When successful, Zionner could unstealth from deep cover, sap all the sentries, and run away with the intelligence.

I suppose the lack of action on his part could be excused by his ability to always be there to take advantage of a situation. It requires plenty of patience, but our team probably would not have won without him.

I know a bunch of times tonight i would just watch people pass by for a minute before striking. or stand in corners while my cloak recovered before moving on.

and it's funny because no one knows you are there. like you are stalking them XD.

Great. You checked that corner. Did you check it again two seconds later?
