Hey guys and girls, I just installed Windows 7 on a new HDD last night, figured I'd mess around with it. The down side is all the other computers in my house are running XP, thus, I have to connect to the XP network (GRANDCENTRAL) to be able to share files and printers, but most importantly get INTERNET..

How, if it's possible, is this done? I googled and googled last night but didn't really find anything of much assistance.. In XP you go to "Set up a new home or office network" and it tells you which ones, if there is any, that you can connect to. This doesn't seem to be the case for me, either that, or I'm missing something.

HELP!? :)

Thx,
Bio.

So no internet for you? Are you hooked up to the motherboard's NIC or a dedicated card? Either way, make sure you have a driver installed for the NIC.

Try making the network on your windows 7 machine and then see if it works on the other computers? Try to get the vista drivers for you're wireless card first though and see if that works.

Xneo - No internet, hooked up to mobo, no dedicated card in the house that's new enough to be compatible with 7.

Frap - No wireless, it's a wired connection. I'll try Vista drivers when I get home, as the ones I'm attempting to use are XP drivers (which I just realized). I copied them to my USB Stick from my XP HDD before booting up in to 7, just y'know, to be prepared and save my self a head ache..

Well, if you know the cable is good, then look at the back of your computer. Right next to where you plug the network cable in, please describe to me what the amber and green lights are doing.
