So I am constantly battling between what is too much playing online and just enough. Not to mean that I forgo my normal life, but I do tend to stay up much too late and get too little sleep. This of course led to me being very grumpy and have a very short fuse. Not good qualities to have in a parent of young children.

In fact, it started to get so bad that I decided to take a month off from all video games a little while ago. It was very hard at first, but then I noticed how much time I had in the day when I was not gaming.

So I think I have struck a good balance between too much and completely abstaining.

I am curious if anyone else is dealing with this same issue and if they have found a balance between the two.

Yea Im pretty young.. But my parents are divorced and im with my mom most of the time who is Disabled.. so I usually play in the morning but help my mom most of the day around the house...so yea i find a balance. And I always find time for friends,Girl friend, and family(includes eGO)

yeah..

what i do is i just go act up... till i get banned. then i have no choice but to not play

*JOKES*

But yeah, its hard sometimes.
What i like to do when the wife starts to complain i play to much is i point out the fact that (unlike alot of husbands) I could be going out and partying everynight, go out drinking, going out and hanging out with the guys. going god knows where, doing god knows what.... BUT I'M NOT. i'm at home. where you can see me. and see that all i'm doing is playing video games. IN OUR OWN LIVING ROOM!.

The balance is tough to find but you just have to get your priorities in line.
Real life is generally work. Video games are play. We've all heard work before play.
So take care of whatever you have to do, and then sit down and play.
If something comes up, stop playing.

Seriously, if you follow that, you'll always have time for video games ;)

yea balance is hard to find...and although i found it...occasionally i forget...bt i have the balance most of the time, and when you do, you get the best out of video games: the stress relieving and fun factor :D

I used to be really bad ( on all the time ). Wife would become extremely irritated ( justified ). I cut back and learned to balance it out. Gaming can ( and is ) very addictive. Most fun things are. ;)

im 13 so i don't rlly have a life without cs:s...jk i have plenty of friends but my mom doesn't let me hang out a lot which leads to too much cs:s...so to answer ur question yes i do have this problem and no i did not YET find a balance

one day a week i don't game

sleep extra, hang out extra with friends. the other days i just game till i get burnt out.

I do it aswell.
My prioritys are a bit messed up at times where I stay up entire weekends without sleep. :/

I'm limiting myself now.

Everyone that plays video games needs to have a balance in my opinion otherwise, just as Architect you basically change. Back in high school I was literally addicted to Rome: Total War. I would run home from school every single day play from 3PM to about 6 something then eat dinner then play till maybe 1AM. What also happens is that if you play to much and you don't have a balance it effects just basically who you are as a person. When my friends that played Rome: Total War stopped playing I basically like went into a depression. Then a friend of mine in real life who also played video games as much as me said that its good to get out and to not play for a while so I tried it and ever since I have been able to balance. I still play a lot but I can stop whenever I want to and I take frequent breaks. I have a wonderful girlfriend who understands why I play so much and I have a good family.

To those who can't find a balance yet, you will so don't worry.

balance is good i always find i get more out of my games after a long day at work and school than i would if i was playing all day. tf2 is a good stress reliever after a long day at the collage or at the cafe.

It's tough for most people to get away from gaming because it is such an escape. Life is so complicated these days and when you play, things seem to be under your control. I suggest you play only a couple hours at most per session, jump up and do one thing you've been putting off. You will feel a real sense of accomplishment and not feel poorly for neglecting all else. Take a break and come to the website, post a comment, put out a friendship note, or welcome a new member. If the dishes get done too, great.

Still trying to figure it out I have 4 diplomas and I need to bump my chem mark. But I can't focus for hours on end to study so I game but I tend to game too much. It is difficult man
