I have briefly been talking to JohnT about an Ambassadorship for each NON-US Country. Also mentioned in one of our recent Vent meeting.

Their role would be to act as an Advisor in their own language and or country. This to create a sense of Internationally and comfort for our current and new members. We have many players who understand English, yet don't feel comfortable speaking it, therefore missing out on a lot of whats going on in our community.

The Ambassador would also act as leader, providing vital information to their group, arrange local events "if interest is shown" and keep things together.

-> Depending on the demand, language skills and differences, this could also be divided into:
North - West - South and East ..and or specific Country.

I have a meeting with JohnT some time next week when hes back in the office.

I would like you to bring ideas and comments towards the original idea.

ex: Do you think its a good idea or not, what do you think we could add to it or change and do better?

Looking forward to your comments!

Yes its a good idea, although i learned alot of my english here in eGO. Before i only spoke french

That's wonderful!

The idea is obviously not to remove the English part eGO. I think 90% of our non-us members do understand the written and spoken English fair enough to enjoy the game. The idea is to enhance our service, add Internationally to our community, generate more members and even coordinate local Events. I think all of eGO Events and Grill party's have taken place in the US and the demand for local Events has been spoken out loud for.

I like this idea. It also allows for someone in leadership to be on when everyone else is alseep.

I think its a fantastic idea, would help us grow in that we could recruit more people who don't use English as their primary language & would help them feel more at home & more apart of the community.

I love that Idea, although I don't think eGO has a lot of Belgian members...

Maybe group up some countries that speak the same language ? Like Belgium and The Netherlands ?

i like the idea as well. in fact i would like someone from outside usa to teach me their language (w/e country & language it is). im always interested in learning new languages.

Locating our International members

Thats fine! We have also talked about making a new poll and try to localize our International members more specifically! Not Just Europe, Asia, etc...

Sounds like a good idea, to select someone who reflects well their nationality and is recognised by all, like Hoodie for Canada or Darth for whatever planet he represents

Timezones

True! Timezones has a lot to do with it as well. I'm sure eGO wants more members and admins from Europe to keep things running just as smooth as Primetime USA 24/7.

this is a great idea!
this could also expand our community and bring more foreign players into the game

great idea. However, we need to keep it as and stress English. Not because im ignorant and narrow-minded, but because we are more organized using a general language.

I feel this could break that organization, so if it happens, we need to be careful to keep it English.

That's a cool idea, but I think it would end up being a label only. I see more practical applications in making real-life ambassadors from different regions, including America, that arrange face-to-face events. Like give each person a 200 mile radius and make them in charge of face-to-face stuff.

Think about it: EdgeGamers would go from a online clan to a in-person clan. Think of the recruitment options too. Host a public LAN party, slap the eGO label on it, and BAM! New recruits. Invite-a-friend, yada yada. At the recent TX meet-and-greet, Oldie brought a friend and we recruited him. Think of that, but on a much larger scale.

i like this idea, but as the only greek-speaking member of eGO, I'd be quite lonely in my embassy ;p ;p
