This is a joke that was told to me when I first went to university. I have never forgotten or stopped loving this joke...
ENJOY!
There was this little boy named Billy. Billy's dad gave him a gift every year for his birthday. Then around his fifth birthday, Billy was old enough to ask for a present. So Billy's dad asked him what he would like for his birthday. Billy said, "I want GREEN MARBLES." So Billy's dad went to the store to buy green marbles. As the year went by, Billy played with his marbles a great deal. He cleaned them, polished them and sorted them. He loved his marbles.
A year went by and it was almost Billy's birthday again, and again Billy's dad asked him what he would like for his birthday. Billy said, "I want GREEN MARBLES." So Billy's dad went to the store to buy green marbles again. Billy loved them and played with them and sorted them. He loved his marbles.
Another year and another birthday. Billy's dad asked him what he would like for his birthday. Billy said, "I want GREEN MARBLES." So Billy's dad went to the store to buy green marbles again. He was now 7 years old and his collection was starting to grow considerably. And yet, he still loved his marbles.
Year after year, Billy's birthdays came and went. And all he ever wanted was more GREEN MARBLES. His collection was magnificent. Large marbles, small marbles and in-between marbles. Dark Green Marbles, Light Green Marbles and Medium Green Marbles. Clear marbles, opaque marbles and foggy marbles. Every type of marble you can imagine. There were marbles in his room, stacked neatly in containers. There were marbles in the living room, bathroom garage and basement.
And through it all, Billy's dad thought it was strange, but thought it could be worse.
So on Billy's 16th birthday, Billy's dad comes to him and asks him what he would like for his birthday, fully knowing that it was going to be marbles. To his surprise, Billy asks for a GREEN CAR. In shock, he agreed, just glad his son could like something other than green marbles.
So Billy has his car and loads up all of his marbles. The marbles from the bedroom, bathroom, living room and basement. Large marbles, small marbles and in-between marbles. Dark Green Marbles, Light Green Marbles and Medium Green Marbles. Clear marbles, opaque marbles and foggy marbles. All of his marbles were packed tightly in his car, with just enough space to for him to drive.
Billy took the fully loaded car and drove off. He started to go on winding back roads, when a deer jumped out in front of him and he swerved and hit a tree. Billy was thrown from the car. Billy's dad was driving by sometime later and saw the car, the green marbles every where and his son.
He called for an ambulance and went to his son. He tried to comfort him, but he knew his son would not make it. He turns to his son and asks, "Son, I love you, but I have to know something." Billy replied weakly, "What dad?" "Why all of the green marbles?" his dad asked. "You see dad, it was my plan to...." And Billy died.
The End
