WTH Flashlight?

Ive been playing DoD for a while now but only recently have i noticed a bunch of people running around with their flashlight on all the time. So what the heck is up with that? Is it some weird online cult of people who like to get shot alot or do they just need to adjust their brightness? I know some people like to do it to spotlight their fellow MGs or snipers to get their weapon but most of the time they dont do that they just run around with the darn light on!!!! I guess its a pet peeve of mine but its driving me nuts!!!! :facewall:

its what crazy does right before he *HUGS* you he flashes it, otherwise i dont know why ppl run with it on other to get other ppl killed,

and i know thats not a good idea expecially to do when admin is around, cause i seen a admin kick him cause he wouldnt turn it off and stop flashing him and getting him killed lol.

DoD uses the source engine, aka Half Life 2, as its base. Default key for that is F. I guess people do it just because they can really..

For me,when I leave my flashlights on (normally if its in a low number of players in the server) it means that I do not want to get shot (A mark) So that I can go to an objective or I want to see someone lol

I have been told the flash light can temporarily blind a player in a dark area. I don't know that I believe this, but I have been told it. If it's true - then I guess in that sense it can be an advantage. I know that it is the weapon of choice in the second "night at the museum" (lol). Personally, I don't use it and really don't like it when someone shines it on me so the enemy can spot my position better. I already get killed easily enough. However, I like it alot when the enemy uses it .
