FaN has actually recieved a 12.5% damage increase. Not 10%.

Valve really need to chance the FaN's damage back to what it was originally. I was getting owned by scouts loads today, even as the Heavy :/

It takes 3 "hit and runs" with the FAN to kill a heavy. Assuming that none of them are crit and no medic is healing the heavy.

No, not really, it takes 4 point blank shells to kill a heavy. If you flanked a heavy as a scout while circling you could easily kill him within 5 seconds.

The force of nature is way overpowered and should get a big fat nerf. The scout was NEVER meant to be a head-on, kill-you-in-a-few-seconds class. The scout was meant to be an annoyance to the other team, and a point-capper.

When you're sniping, and you're NOT one of the Huntsman spamming, shoot-then-hide snipers, and you're in scope, a scout could attack you from the side and kill you in two shots, you having NO REACTION TIME. :facewall:

Really? I had to unload 6 FAN shots to kill a heavy at point blank.
The FAN's second shot is really hard to aim properly at your opponent if your opponent is flying beacuse of your first shot.

Agreed. Not to mention the "triple jump" you can do that makes it even more overpowered.

In 2fort, I can jump from the ground to bridge with a triple jump. After that I can just douuble jump to the battlements.

So does the scattergun, when I snipe with the rifle :facewall:

how many people here who think the FaN is overpowered has actually tried to use it for more than an hour or two?

the complaint keeps coming up that a scout can kill you before you can react to him being near you. Do you think the spy is overpowered because he can kill you before you know hes there? Its the exact same thing.

If a scout doesn't get a kill in his initial 2 or 3 shots he most likely wont get one. After that point its too easy for almost any class to kill him. He has to have the ability to 2 or 3 shot most classes in order to be effective at all. Keep in mind you have to be at absolute point blank range to get these fast kills, at that range every class has an effective counter to the scout.

On top of this, you can almost always get 2 shots off with the scattergun as well before your opponent realizes you are there. This ability is not unique to the FaN. In fact, because of blowback you can usually do more damage with the scattergun. Because of this imo the scattergun is far superior.

Yes, in a very limited number of situations, the FaN may be better, such as points where you can cause environmental deaths. However, the number of maps where the FaN actually allows you to reach areas you couldn't reach with the scattergun is very very limited.

So bottom line imo is that the FaN is still much less useful/effective/versatile than the scattergun.

The Heavy didnt have any reaction time, those 500 times you pulled that headshot on him. <facepalm>

But here's the thing my friend: That's the SPY'S job, not the scout's, I don't complain about the spy, because that's the only thing he's good at. Disguise/cloak, then backstab you, run away. If Valve Mingles the class' abilities as such, then the experience of being an essential part of the team vanishes. and of course, from that point the game will die.

Examples: Sniper is balanced by the fact that they are severly limited in CQC, what if all of a sudden, the sniper was given a scattergun as his secondary weapon? It'd be like this: Sniper shoots someone across the map, whips out his scattergun and shoots down the scout coming up the stairs to his hideout. Wouldn't that be great?

Scout is balanced by being fast, but not having any substantial long range fighting ability, and low health to where he has to be very good to attack head on. what if all of a sudden he had 200 hp and a Huntsman along with his scattergun?

Soldier is balanced by having mediocre health, and a projectile weapon that takes awhile to reach it's target, along with a small clip and a harsh reloading time. What if the Rocket suddenly got a 30% speed boost and could hold 8 rockets?

I'd go on, but I think i've made my point clear.

Oh, and btw, it actually takes THREE shots with a FaN to kill a heavy if you're point blank.

Heavy's Health: 300

FaN point-blank damage: 100

And the kickback, I don't notice it all that much. But remember, to get the "100" Damage, EVERY bullet has to hit. And, as we all know, the heavy turns SLOWLY, so, in theory, you could just stay behind him and 3 shot him.

All heavies, it seems to me, are more concerned with the scout to the side of the screen then the closer soldier/demo. Also if you shoot a heavy twice with the FaN you will be surprised by which the speed he will turn around and shoot you.

The FaN is better for 1v1 or getting the flank, since being knocked up really messes one up.Also the triple jump might not be the most winning quality about it, is still very good and very fun to use and can get you to places quicker then a scout without it.

The Scattergun however, will most likely beat out a scout using the FaN 1v1. Since with the FaN shooting in the air during combat leaves your worse off, you can abuse your double jump while he has to stay on the ground. It is also better for sustained fighting with the larger clip.

Both guns are equal now with the damage increase.

The Soldier has mediocre health? Heavy turns slowly? Where are you getting this BS? It's not like suddenly the Soldier comes with base 125 health and the Heavy's turning speed has been limited below the mouse's turn speed.

And realistically, it takes around 5-6 shots in actual battle conditions to take down a Heavy with the FAN because it only really works well when you pop around corners with it and distance is variable.

The Scout does not have an OTK like the Spy, and to say that anything the Spy does is similar to what the Scout does is silly, they're one of the most opposite classes in the game.

I bloody snipe with this thing. It's great...for scouts...
Anything else, you're screwed!
