What is Insurgency missing?

Why does everyone want to make the ak47 more inaccurate? IT IS ACCURATE UNTIL AFTER THE FIRST 3 shots. This is an industry known standard of the ak or ANY OTHER HANDHELD RIFLE IN EXISTENCE. So if ak goes full auto it should be as innacurate as much as any other gun WHEN FIRED FULL AUTO. The same mechanisms used in the ak are used in the ak74, the ak series of sniper weapons, hell, many of the soviet guns due to the state adoption of ak-based weapons to ease commonality of parts through the cold war. Even the dragunov uses the ak firing mechanism. So to say the ak, SHOULD be inaccurate is bs in my opinion. Only on full auto should it be inaccurate.

The M4, on the other hand, is much lighter than many full rifles. Carbines are incredibly inaccurate on full auto due to their lightness, that's why they chamber for smaller rounds like 5.56mm instead of the 7.62mm of the ak. Heavier guns typically have less recoil (granted the ak is known for recoil, but soldiers are trained to compensate for it, and children can use it due to it's simplicity, mobility, and accuracy)

Basically, any hand held weapons, fired on single shot should be accurate by design, thats why guns have sights, barrels are rifled, bullets are cone shaped, etc. ANY handheld weapon when fired on full auto or too quickly will become increasingly inaccurate if it isn't mounted or using a bipod/tripod. Firing from the hip is when you fire a rifle at full auto. Or prone. So don't expect miracles and massive adjustments to guns when the the reason for their accuracy is based on the a) firing position of the user b) firing mode and c)skill. The rifle is fine.

Does the game give each weapon a different standard of single shot accuracy? I haven't noticed any issues, only the crappy sights on the m16. Wtf is with that by the way? Does this game have issues with rifles when fired on full auto?

The thing is the AK 47 has less recoil than a M4, now comon. The AK is a laser beam the thing is TOO accurate. I'm not asking for crack head shakyness (READ: Fallout 3) just not being more accurate than a sniper rifle.

I'd like to see them fix the shadows thru the walls, and how about maybe a compass for calling out information.
A KNIFE TO CUT PPL, or some kind of melee attack. How about a rifle-butt strike that stuns or something.
Oh, and flying pigs.

Leader Baen, "Using the G3 when the marines haven't even been issued it is kinda stretching it."

The G3 will be used by the British in Kosovo. Read this before you start trashing it.

Exactly, and it doesn't have any flaw in it's accuracy even on full auto. I can not count the number of times, that I've seen an enemy Marine do everything right. He takes cover, and LEANs around the corner, exposing only his weapon and his face, he has his iron sights up and is getting ready to fire. I am running out the open picking flowers, and don't have my weapon up. Yet in that split second that I acquire my target, I can draw a STRAIGHT line on full auto up to his face.

Besides, the main argument here is that the Iraqi team is NOT the Iraqi army. We look more like citizen soldiers, and should fight as such. The accuracy needs to be reduced. Besides, it's a game, who cares about realism. If you want it to be realistic, go sign up at your local recruiting station. If you want this game to be realistic, remove the Marine team entirely, and just have 3 people play on a spectre gunship having the Iraqi team run around in circles.

Please don't take my skepticism to mean "trashing" in the immature version of that word. As you can see from my own quote I said "marines" having the G3 would be stretching it. Please read more carefully next time. And this was only intended as a simple example, don't read too far into it.

As for the realism, I'm only going with the intentions of the developer. And don't give me any attitude about service. I've spent plenty of time in the Canadian Army to earn that realism thank you very much. 2 years infantry, 2 years communications, then I was out to get my law degree. Currently working on that, then I'm going right back in. Do you have any service experience?

The developers market this game as realistic, so going with what THEIR intentions are, we are completely justified to ask for acceptable weapon stats, as the dev team themselves seek a better standard.

As for realism it would be alot more than one spectre gunship. Combined arms of infantry, armor, and air assets would be used in an urban environment as well as special assets. Please don't lecture me on realism, when this obvious quote shows you don't know what you are talking about. I don't mean this to be catty or disrespectful, however I tend to come across strong.

As well, I didn't realize there were so many issues with the ak, I use that often and haven't been able to run a clean stitch up anyone, lol! Is this a serious issue in the game?

No I don't have any experience because I'm not seeking it. Like I said IF one wanted experience they should sign up, otherwise they won't get anything close.

As for the tactics, I thought it was an obvious understatement. Of course 1 spectre gunship wouldn't do. But you can't sit there and tell me that a company of USMC would take on a company of Iraqis without proper support. It's a tragedy when we lose 19 US soldiers in a single week, if we were to send an entire company running up Sinjar mountain 2 squads at a time, we'd have riots in the streets. The number of bodies being sent home would outrage the nation.

Realism isn't fun, gameplay is.

It can be argued that with proper teamwork the Marines have just as much chance of winning as the Iraqis; however, when dealing with pubs this is next to impossible. The game needs to be balanced. Even when the Marines fight together as a team, it is frustratingly difficult to pull off a win. Even on Baghdad vs USMC, we tied both rounds, however rolled them once we got the Iraq side. There is no doubt that the Iraq weapons are superior to the Marine weapons in this game. The game needs rebalancing for it to be truely entertaining.

PS I'm thick skinned, didn't feel that you were disrespectful

Ya, I agree with you Yeti. The balance in this game is really pathetic. As far as I'm concerned, the marines should have a HUGE technological superiority and the insurgents should have a huge hometeam advantage in terms of positions, ambushes, etc. The guns are hugely unbalanced. When it comes to insurgent vs. marine 1v1, the balance is definitely in terms of insurgents in this current mod. What can be done to bring out the balance on pub servers? More commander powers? A waypoint map drawn on the ground for people to follow?

I would like tanks in INS! Maybe those vehicles with the MG mounted on top, that will be COOL!

Hahah Diamond. We don't need another failed attempt like COD:WaW.

I personally think the AK, along with all the other insurgent weapons to be nerfed. The AK can barely hit a target at 200 yards on semi auto, in insurgency you can make 200+ yard shots and you can make them on full auto.

The position of the Americans on maps also bugs me. I notice they tend to get the weaker more open side of the map where as the insurgents get a fortress of buildings and defenses. I known that's what happens most of the time in the real world but when the insurgents can easily pop around a corner and pop back getting about 7-10 kills per magazine (most of the time) it seems kinda cheap to me.

Balancing is definately in order. I don't know if the Iraqi weapons should be nerfed so much as the Marine weapons need to be buffed. The m16 should drop somebody in one hit. I've never been shot, but I'm pretty sure that no matter what caliber/velocity it would be excruciating.

INS need a map where the usmc spawn in a plane an parachute down. that would be so cool well atleast to me it would be.

Thanks for bringing that up Yeti, I forgot another problem. Insurgents don't wear armor like Americans do, so that means any size of ammunition bigger than a 9mm would put one down if shot center-mass.
