Two Common Mistakes​

Two of the more common mistakes Admins make in the server are:

1. Kicking AFK's. If you are an Admin in-game and you notice someone is AFK and it is disrupting game play, move them to Spectator. All Admins have the power to move AFK's to Spec! If the server is not full, or the hours are not in prime time gaming hours, then the move to Spec is the right thing to do.

If a player is AFK in a full server and it is not too late in the day, kicking is acceptable. This goes with players with limited classes too. Do not kick an AFK with a limited class when you can move them to Spec for being AFK. Think before you kick!

2. Reserved Classes. In some of our games, we have limits on classes. This ensures balanced game play. If someone is not good at a class or you want to play that class, kicking or moving them to get the limited class is not acceptable. You, like everyone else must wait your turn. There is no "SHARE" rule on limited classes.

Sorry, there are a lot of perks to being an Admin, but kicking people with limited classes is not one of them.

Ok got it. I had to kick an AFK on turbine like 2 days ago because he was AFK on a full server.

If the person is AFK and the server is full would we kick them though?

Yea, when i was an eG, before kicking the AFK, i would think to myself, is the server full? If its not then i would move the player to spec. If the server has 28 people in it and there 2 in spec, i would kick one, then when we get another player kick the other. It always works and it fills up the servers quickly!

Ive never played a game on eGO with reserved classes... well once, but that was INS.

Well, tf2 has no reserved classes so the second mistake doesn't apply to the Tf2 admins.

As for the first one, I've been kicked seeding on a server at like two in the morning when it had like 6 people. Hopefully that won't happen again.

im glad i dont do any of that. lol.. ppl usally whine about weapons when they want to keep their points up. forget about pt. and just play the game.

I always monitor this, and, move AFK's to spec, then, and only then remove if the server is full. Great post !!

good post. in my opinion its just as fun to move people to spec as it is to kick them lol. but for real, the only time i ever kick afks is if theres a full server. i know that a lot of times i have to sit and wait a few minutes to connect when the servers full and i'd hate to know i'm waiting just because theres an afk. but if the server has room, theres no point in kicking them.

It would seem to me kicking or moving someone just so you can get into a limited class is the same as kicking someone so you can join the server, and to me would warrant removal of all admin powers.

People on servers = Eyes seeing advertisements = Sponsorship moneys to keep things going. Dont kick unless you are certain someones going to take thier place. Thats the important position admins have. Thats why we police ANNOYING,CHEATING, people so GOOD players dont leave, and ensure they come back. Admins are really a key elemement in the business aspect of the community. Atleast thats how I see it. But what do I know, Im just a Dummie.
